Yes the spring in the isolator is probably broken. I replaced mine with a Nylon bush that I imported.

From Land Rover you can only buy the complete front part of the supercharger, they do not sell the Isolator coupler loose anymore.

That means you'll have to swap over your SC pulley Again if you do decide to use the new nose.

I would import a coupler before paying LR prices

The issue with solid couplers is that in the long run the rollers can get damaged, as all vibrations get through to them instead of being absorbed by the spring

It depends on the dealer, I spoke to the parts manager at LR Stellenbosch, and they are ordering just the coupler for me.

FYI, for those of you looking to replace the coupler:

    from powerhouse.co.uk:

    "Hi,

No, we only sell the OEM sprung coupler, not the oil filled nylon ones.

This is because we used to sell oil-filled solid for these models and after a year of selling we found approx.. 50% of those customers complaining of a high frequency rattle at idle. Vibration can be bad for superchargers so without long-term knowledge of whether this would impact the supercharger reliability we advise not using them."

I can only assume that is not the common pre 2012 5.0 timing chain issue where the chain guides wear due to the steel piston / aluminium slide body interface issue as by then those slides had been upgraded, or 'should have been' at least..

Man that is a very sad sight indeed..

Correct yes, this car is fitted with the upgraded guides. Tensioner failure caused this.

The tensioner has a spring inside that helps on cold starts when there is no oil pressure to the tensioners.

As you can see in the pic, that tensioner isn't tensioning anymore
Left is good, right has failed

    Sorry, I misunderstood.

Wow, I did not know that these could fail on the updated AJ133...

I'm assuming oil change interval has nothing to do with this? That is, if the spring fails, it fails?

Is that the position that the plunger was in when you opened the engine? It looks like the ratchet mechanism may have failed rather than the spring unless the plunger was not "loaded" correctly before it was fitted. If not loaded correctly, the timing chain is guaranteed to jump teeth sooner rather than later.

Like GT40 mentioned, its actually the ratcheting mechanism that has failed.

Yes, thats the position it was in when opened. This engine hasn't been open from factory.

You're correct when saying the ratcheting mechanism has failed.
I can reset the ratcheting mechanism on the one tensioner, but they failed one doesn't ratchet and lock into place even when trying to reset it.

    Good Lord!!

So just as a matter of curiosity I'm assuming complete engine replacement, the block cylinders have been damaged??

Has all this been priced, any indication for us please?
