    Post Jimny Review

    Hi all,

Your thoughts please. (we might not be the right crowd to ask for honest opinions though...)

I tend to agree with the article.

But it all depends on what is important to you in a car.

yes its slow, yes it's not as frugal as we'd like but the article has two important points.

    1) good offroad
    2) reliable

in my book that counts for a lot and that's why I am seriously considering buying one

I am going to (try) be non-biased here:

It seems to me as if all journos use a little check box when they write their reviews and road test articles. These often include: performance, dynamics, space, fuel consumption, safety and value for money. Sadly, true to the Jimny’s character, it doesn’t like to play by the rules… Therefore it scores badly… I believe the Jimny is GREAT value for money… And in SA especially, the resale value is good… Just look at the 2nd hand Jimny market. Journo’s like to compare Apples with Apples… but in this case, the Jimny is a Pomegranate, sure, It’s not the fruit that everyone wants in their lunchbox, but once you have it… there’s nothing else quite like it.

To compare it to a fiat panda 4x4 is definitely not comparing apples with apples.... (This says something about the journo....) Nothing wrong with the panda, but it would not satisfy any real off-road need other than gravel roads and some shallow sand...

    "Permanent 4 wheel drive" nogal....

Did the guy actually drive the car

Then he goes on to say it's a all wheel drive system. Which is it? eish.

Wow, this review is terribly unfair. Yes there are a few points I will agree with in principal.
Space is an issue - Yep, if you have 4 kids!
Outdated design - Yep, but it adds to the cars flair... it makes it a Jimny!
Surely you can see the trend, I will have a "but" at every point. So no need to carry on.

The Jimny has a way of making you smile when you get into it, it becomes a part of the family. Either you like it, or you hate it. No sitting on the fence.

Its an emotional thing AND the old tannies think they are the shyte in their 4x4s!! LOL

Yar, did this guy drive the Jimny? I don't think so.

Many a journo has made a fool of themselves when reviewing the Jimmy. I've seen reviews where they took it around a racing track and then concluded that it was a terrible vehicle. I've also seen a review where the journo took it it to a 4x4 track and compared it to a D90 and concluded that he had more fun in the Jimny.

They are to negative, I have had a Jimny before in 12 years and it was great. Later I had a 2 door Wrangler and now a 4 door Wrangler and they are rather negative about that one to. For me the Wrangler have a very ncie dash and it is very comfortable.

Maybe I should do a review of a Porsche, I dont like sportscars.

Bad groundclearance, to fast, no space, to expensive, no low gear, no 4x4, looks ugly, no solid axles, no rear spare wheel, no 4x4 after market stuff, bad water fording depth at 10cm

In European standards, I can see why the jimny would be disliked as much. Not for that crowd.

I had my jimny for two years, and it was the best 4x4 I will ever have. My dad liked it so much, he bought it from me and now drives with it every day.
