    Default Dijara Campsite - Mababe

    DIJARA Campsite opens 1st December!

A perfect alternative to the Khwai Community/southern Moremi Campsites. Between Moremi & Kasane on the Chobe route through the park.
    P200 per person per night.
    Pristine ablution blocks.
    Owner managed/run. (owner on site!)

Dijara (bushman for "many years") camp site is located on the main road between Khwai village and Mababe village. Coming from the Mababe side : you cross over the metal bridge just outside of the village and turn left towards Khwai and Moremi North Gate. The road to the camp site is 1km to the left, go 2km down this small track and the camp is on your left, it is visible from the track.

Thanks for the heads-up, Tara. Nice to have camping alternates.

As Francois111 noted, those are some very pretty pictures!

But is "Dijara" really a sesarwa word? It looks more like a setswana "loaned" word from Afrikaans: the plural setswana prefix "di" affixed to the Afrikaans word for year - "jaar". Sesarwa languages follow different grammatical rules to setswana, which is considered belonging to the bantu language group.

Hi Taralee, how many campsites have you got at Dijara or is is it only one? If more than one, how far are they spaced apart on average?
    Thanks

    Hi guys
There are 16 campsites (two blocks of eight) - and all along the river - all shaded. All quite far apart (you will be private).
The game in the area is stunning, and night drives are allowed as well. There's self drive game tracks and you can enjoy the Moremi/Khwai/Mababe area as you wish!

Am I correct in saying the camp is in NG42, on the banks of the Khwai, but outside Chobe NP?

It would need to be outside of Chobe District as the Toursim Department stopped issuing accommodation licenses there about 1-1/2 years ago.

    Hi Tara

    Are self-drive night drives allowed?

    Hi Petri
Unfortunately they are not allowed as they wish to keep the bush quiet at night so campers can enjoy the sounds of the wild

    Hi Tara,

    This looks awesome!

The track that goes from Maun to this camp - is it all public road, or do you have to enter Moremi?
What would the travel time be from Maun to this camp site?
    What are the camping rates?
    Is there electricity?
    Is there drinking water?
    What ablution / loo facilities?

Lusted for a Landy but the Pajero was sexier and bigger in the right departments, just like my Missus.

    Thanks, Stranger.

Mea culpa. I guess I should read first and then ask questions.

Lots of wildlife at Dijara this week. A pride of lions (last two nights) was a highlight! Hyena around camp last night and lots of Ellies and Hippo!
