    Default Navara brakes

I have persistant brake squeal on my navara. 2nd owner. Will changing the brake pad compound make any difference? Should I go harder or softer? Any advice would be appreciated.

    Welcome!

Well, first check to make sure there is some material left on the pads.
Normally there is a metal piece on one of the pads that starts squeling if the pad is worn down.

OEM pads could be a bit hard. Get softer aftermarket pads but then be prepared to change them every 20,000 or so. Also you might get more brake dust with softer pads, but your disks will last longer

20000 Km's only! Eeish! We have aftermarket pads fitted to our '07 Navara 4x4 and they have done over 55 000 with more than 50% left, no squeal though I find the pedal a bit spongy which the local agents tell me is normal with the ABS system operating.
