    okay...so...an update to my frustration...

My budget has increased to 170k...

now...what should I do? I definitely do not want to spend this kind of money AND have to replace all kind of parts. That won't work for me...

    previous: 97 Pajero LWB 3.5 V6, 99 Pathfinder R50 3.3 V6, 98 Defender 90 300 TDi bakkie

problem is you'll never get your money back for the extras. I am think of going getting a refurbished defender done by a LR indie. At least I'll have a warranty of 6months

These okes knows how to refurbish Defenders

shaun at 170k you are in the price market for the very elusive kalahari defender the kalahari defender is a tdi defender but built around 2005-2007 i believe. a 300tdi so no computer to have issues with.

but if u want to get the lowest milage and best setup here are few gumtree ads in the 150-170 range

heres a 90 with 161000 on clock and close to you so you can veiw it.

    heres a 2005 90 with 160000

300Tdi's are highly Sought after, and for good reason. A good 300Tdi with similar milage to an equivelant TD5 (even if the TD5 is muchl newer) will probably cost more.

at your budget, you might be able to get a decent pick-up (scarce) or a hardtop, but definately not a 110 SW.

TD5 Discovery might be accessible in your price class...Unfortunately that is just how it is. remeber though, if you buy a defender now for 120K, you will probably be able to sell it in 5 years time for at least what paid, probably more. Thats not gonna happen with a disco

Chat to the guys at 7Landies in Paarden Island, Cape Town. They have a TD5 for sale in awesome condition, but think asking 120k... I can chat to them Monday if you need more details. They also have an amazing Defender 130. Ex Red Bull 'rolling generator', so did no heavy work.
