Defenders are becoming and will become more scarce and EXPENSIVE. I am holding on to mine at all costs. 1999 Shorty 90 Td5 and 2006 110 Td5, just love them. Sorry I got rid of the 1995 110 Tdi, should have kept that as well.
Both mine are in immaculate condition , although I have spent quite a bit to get them there!

Brandnew diffs, gearbox, transfer, motor redone, new turbo, diesel pump, everthing is new on it. Extras alone is R 300 000 , 2 dual batteries, 2 fridges and and and. No just joking. Will never sell it. Build 3 years on it. It is brandnew

Shaun, relax take a breath. don't compromise. make a decision onb what you want and relax. if you rush it and buy wrong one or buy different vehicle than what you want you could up disappointed and out of money down the road. if u want a defender then relax and keep up the search. they are out there you just have to find it when it comes around and keep saving money. you were looking for one around 80k when we first spoke now your up to 100k i agree if u can buy a tdi and upgrade it. larger intercooler, hybrid turbo and so forth can improve them. if your willingto sacrifice a bit of low end grunt buy a disco gearbox n tc it is higher geared than a defender so that will help you get few more kph out of it. and if you really want to be different from rest of these okes, ashcroft makes a kit to bolt the defender gearbox to the series tc and they also make a high range gearset to raise the ratio of the tc to increase top speed. and you will have a defender with the yellow n red lefers liek a series landy....

but as i said relax and keep your eyes open and you will find one...

That looks like a nice car - definitely worth a look. I just cannot believe the prices that these things fetch now! They are very quickly catching up to the 80 series Cruisers, if you compare price, mileage and year model. I really do believe that they will, in years to come, continue to increase in value as the demand will just outstrip supply.

Agreed! I searched for about 6 months before finding 'the one'. It'll be worth the wait. Good luck

Phone around the indy workshops, parts places, ask on LR related Facebook pages..put the word out, to friends and family as well.

I had a secret longing for a 110 for years, could also never find the right vehicle at the right price, when I went for beers with an friend. A few Windhoeks later I was the owner of his, which I had never thought he would sell!

Forgot to add, there are a lot of Defenders out there for sale right now with crazy prices, saw a 2001 that the owner was asking double book value for! I wonder if the sellers are getting the advertised prices (doubt it very much), so don't be afraid to put a low offer in..you never know.

Erm, I wasn't referring to your vehicle at all. I was referring to an ad on Gumtree.

Shaun, check the one I posted a link to. As far as I can remember this one belonged to Albert, landylover, on the forum. I would def consider this ,particularly taking into consideration what has been done regarding maintenance and replacements! Just my 2 fils worth!
