Exactly what we are wanting to do.
The big question is where to find matching set if Dana's close to 4,88 ratio for the project on limited budget?

Stel bladvere. Ek maak n voor en agter bracket klaar op hier by my op my spaar onderstel, so dit bolt/sweis net so op op jou onderstel.

Sit jou draglink vas aan hilux draglink, so stuur is uitgesort.

Ackermanshoek is van 6 jarige ouderdom by my ingeprent deur my pa, ek probeer die selfde op my seun met sy eerste build.

    What he says ^^^

Getting the rake, trail, camber, castor, ackerman angle right in a home workshop is just about impossible.

Getting it all welded up with decent steel will cost more than your Sani.

Then the CVs are at an extreme angle and need to be replaced or run wide angle UJs.

Also at those angles, suddenly your front wheeltrack is 6 inches narrower. (arc of a circle).

Just drop the idea, it's a great academic excercise but not worth doing.

@ flee: lengthen front and check UJs, maybe shorten rear, balance

    1) 4.625 is standard Hardbody and Patrol : so you could also have that
    2) The torsion bars and all IFS front components as you know need to be cut out so your blue circle isn't an issue.

You guys seem to think I am wanting to create a massive lift out of this thing..... The idea is actually to drop the diff to achieve nothing more than 30mm lift in hub centre to side shaft output. The CV's will probably be at a smaller angle than they even achieve now at full compression. The diff will probably be dropped out by about 70-100mm from its current position.

I may actually have to widen the track slightly to give the much straighter side shafts space inside the inner CV cups as they are already pushing places they are not supposed to be.

But, ja, ok, I get that it's a crap idea.... Lets concentrate on doing it the "normal" way

Oh, by the way, that is the right hand Inner CV, and could be an indication as to how stuffed up the right side of the suspension is. And that was even before the last knock at Berakah that has resulted in the current mess I am in.

I know, but very little space between the chassis and the sump.

Think I will go square up my mechanic here behind us to do proper assement under controlled and calm conditions. Tell him it's the one chance he gets to get it right, or he will be the one matching a rear diff to the ratio he gave us for the new front diff...

but I like what I hear about the Patrol diffs. That must be the ultimate diffs to install, those things are just about indestructible.

Pull the rear axle backplate off, count the teeth on crown wheel and pinion, put gearmax backing plate back and chuck oil back in.

The axle should have the ratio stamped on it or a plate rivited somewhere.
