David ...... check this out..... This may be an option as it seems to be running, and it is a rolling chassis complete. This may cost less that buying bits and pieces and building up, just put this complete chassis under the SANI, and you have everything, and then sell off the balance to assist covering costs. I'm sure those windows etc can still bring in a few bob !!

We have had one or two of those that we have seen. Going to need bridging finance to do that. I know we will probably get most our money back by selling the bit and pieces from the old Sani and Safari, but we don't have the money to purchase it now.

The account is presently standing at R2750, so we just slightly short...

In fact, we can get a Nomad that should offer us the same bits and bobs for R8K now on the forum. http://www.4x4community.co.za/classi...ont-diff/cat/4

Lol, but we will probably get nothing for what is left of it once we have taken what we need.

I even contemplated that Nomad's scrap to be "modified" to be our electric car experiment we have been talking about for a few years now. But Kruiwa (my buddy and boss), does not want to fall for that one. Something to do with the chassis being too heavy for electric vehicle...

Could be. Handbrake doesn't seem to be working ( note brick by front wheel....hahaha)
Hopefully someone is nearby to have a look. Looking at the age (25 years) of the vehicle and the condition of the panels showing on the photo, if it was used for boat launching, there is very little rust showing !! So possibly was well looked after and maintained.

    Hi David
    Laat weet.

    The seller is insane.

We can get a complete running Safari for R15k.

    The complete Nomad was R8k.

    We have around R6k.

    So that's our offer.

I suppose if I can get people to commit on purchase and price of the spares that come off the Sani, it could help in securing some "finance" from a person or two.

Wow those diffs are expensive !!
Ok, relooking at the body of the Gumtree Patrol, the body is a little rough, but I was looking more at the glass, rims, bullbar, rear bumper as those look pretty good still. The body being thin steel has taken a beating, but the chassis is a thick steel and might still be workable. The motor, possibly being a V8 will most probably be easier to sell than a 4.2 petrol motor, presuming it had that motor, or even the 2.8 diesel. Maybe chassis condition dependent an offer of around the 9 - 10K maximum. ( Front bullbar - R2000, Rims - R2000, Glass - R2000 ( rear glass cant be cheap ), V8 motor - R2000, Gearbox - ??, Radiator - R500, Front & Rear Lights & grill etc - R500, side mirrors - R500 )

    Cheers

    Hi Ric,

V8 with box will bring in almost half that back. Dave can re-use the rims and tyres. Trim and bits will be a couple of grandf more yes.

A V8-spec radiator is well over R3k these days.

the issue is we don't have R15k.

Gone, I would have gone right now to pick up, send axles to David and kept the rest.

I was telling Ric on the Patrol forum that we could finance the project from the parts that will become available from he Patrol and the Sani after the project.

But that means creating a list of items that we envisage being available and collecting the money for said items and getting it all here to Gauteng. Do the SFA, remove all the bits off/out that have been sold and get it to the guys that purchased.

That way the Patrol and Sani is worth a lot more than 15K.
