I've wondered if we can't develop a Bowler replica here in ZA.

use a D90 chassis as a start, put nice progressive springs and shocks in, add a Lexus V8, top off with a roll-cage and GRP body.

Surely this can work in the local rally champs?

there was a 90 2.8 with a supercharger on, also had progressive springs and shocks on it.. afterwards the motor was replaced with the 3.2 M3 unit.. was actualy used in rallies.. +- in 2000 IIRC..

    Actually, not so.

I think it is probably more thoroughbred than most purpose built racers.

To the best of my knowledge nearly every important part comes out of the LR group parts bin.

This is awsome! but im slightly confused...dont 90 roll very easily? Ive been in one while it was sort of drifting and it was terrifying! Is it to do with progressive coils?

Yes they do roll, especially if over-loaded and if the anti-roll bars are removed.

But these have dropped suspension, better springs and shocks, lower center of gravity.

Does aftermarket suspension like ome,efs and ironman allow for better Road holding and in turn better handling in defenders? Sorry for all the questions on a drool thread but im a defender nut, so want to know everything about them

Yes but only to the point where inherent solid axle suspension design limitation stops any further improvements.

Sorry if that's a very obscure answer but your question opens a huge area of discussion.

Yep std 2.8 ..... ok Rob Green did some tweaking, but no internal changes.

Std gearbox, std transfer box, std Axles (only broke one rear diff in 2 year season) std chassis with extra supports welded in at shock mounts.

Range Rover classic (police spec) coil springs

    2 Radflo shocks per wheel.

1999 second in championships and second in Class- 8 points behind Apie Reyneke in his factory supported Land Cruiser.

2000 came third, but thats because we shipped the car to Malaysia for the Rain Forest Challenge, so i missed 2 races.

2001 - class changes, and then became Cheque book racing
