    Default Patrol hubs

A friend of mine bought an old Nissan Patrol. He asked me for some advise regarding the front hubs. Apparently they are worn and not locking properly - slipping every now and then. Nissan wants to fix it by importing the parts for over R8K. Any thoughts on where he can go to have it fixed?
    Thanks

Have you tried to find out if Warn (winch maker) have a replacement set - far cheaper than Nissan!!! Not sure for what models they make but they do make. Got a quote from Nissan SA for 1 side - full hub on my Sani - close to R4.5k. Got a set of Warns - both sides for R1300!!!!

Are these manual or auto locking hubs? I cannot see how a manual locking hub can slip if it is properly engaged. Strip, yes, break into pieces, also :-(
Has he taken the hubs apart and cleaned and re-lubricated them? Any wear in the splines of the hub or the sideshaft will be obvious. Old, dirty grease could be preventing the hubs from engaging fully.
I am not a complete idiot - there are still some parts missing

Make sure that it is not the chain in the transfer case that is slipping.

Thanks for the help guys! The warn agents in city deep are not importing the hubs anymore, and the freewheelhub guys could not help either. After a number of leads my friend got hubs from a scrap yard in Pretoria - for R2500 a hub - they still look very good he says! So the hunt is over - thanks!!

Hi JMB, any way you could find out the details for that scrapyard, my patrols sunroof motor kicked the bucket and its halfway open.... right in the middle of our first rain.

    Thanks
