Default Karee Krans weekend - 17 October

We are going to Karee Krans (close to Rustenburg) for the weekend of the 17th to the 19th of October. Co ordinates S 25 35 46.00 E 26 53 19.18

    The plan
We will arriving on Friday (for those that can't, Saturday morning early is fine)
Have a nice bring and braai on Friday night
Start the first trail at latest 8am on Saturday morning
Have a lekker get together on Saturday evening
Maybe have a quick breakfast on Sunday morning or just pack up and go

    The accommodation costs
There are camping facilities and chalets, your choice where you would like to stay but it would be great if we can camp together.

    Camping is R70 pppn, Kids (7 - 12) R35 pppn, kids under 7 free
Chalet (4 sleeper) is R350 per night (fully equipped)
Chalet (2 sleeper) is R250 per night (fully equipped)

Please book directly with Karee Krans: Elena 08three4212zero3zero or email: [email protected]

    The trails
This is how I see the trails driving my normal 4x4.
There are three tails, A, B & C, then there is a realy challenging little mountain trail a definite 5 rating
A - is about 5.3km long and we normally do it first. It has a few surprises and some fun parts. (Trail rating is mostly 3 and a few 4's)
B - is only 2km long but a bit of a challenge perfect for shorties but I did it with my bus no problem.(Trail rating is 3 and quite a few 4's)
C - is 3 km long but a bit boring as it is really just a gravel road with one nice obstacle if I remember correctly. (Trail rating is 3 with maybe one 3.5)
    Cost is R200 per vehicle.

    The Menu
Friday night - bring and braai, I will bring wood for the fire on Friday night.

Saturday trails - snacks and non alcoholic drinks for the trails. Daai plek word warm! so bring lots of non alcoholic drinks for the trails.

If you need alcohol to be able to drive your 4x4 off road then I'm sorry but this will not be for you. This trip is for people with natural 4x4 abilities.

Saterday evening - We should be finished between 3pm and 4pm with trail A & B. Those that would like to go do the C trail or the tough mountain trail can do so the rest can go and relax, make fires and start mingling, have swim, ...

The ladies can go mad with the menu for Saturday nightIt will be appreciate, as usual

Sunday - there are no plans yet, but we're open to suggestions.

    The attendees list.

This sounds like fun but it's only 4 days before Tinker and I depart for Kgalagadi and I just can't risk any damage.

    Thanks for the invite though.

    Good one Franz!!

Franz, that little trail has been graded.... its now a very pleasant drive...
Actually, there is about 20km of new trail.... (graded.... but the rain will sort that out!!)

They have also opened the fences with the neighbors, who have a some game, so there might be some big game to view... And as always, the place itself is quite beautiful...

PS: Are you planning to camp at the bush camp (that they have fixed quite nicely now) or at the house?

Damn, it's sounds even better than what it was

Ok, the little trail is the one up the mountain I take it? So it's not a 5 any more?

You know we had such a nice time at the bush camp last time I wouldn't mind camping there again.

    Yes, its a road now....
But it was loosely graded and just waiting for some rain to become.... ummm... interesting...

There are trails now all over the place, that portion at the back near that "Klou en Grou" has all been opened up and you can now climb up all those mountains. I suggest we take Sunday morning and explore some of those trails...

Oh and btw, the last time we went, I could not get out of the river

The bushcamp has been leveled, the dam has been repaired and some planting has been done all around that area now... Nicely fixed.

Oi that little trail has a name, given by me.

You want to tell me it's not "Klou of Grou" anymore, but "Ry en slaap" ag noooo, was never a 5 though. 4 at most.

They only graded the trail to define that route. They are not planning on grading it again.
    There are 6 routes now.

Klou of Grou will now be part of a definate trail, but it will need some weather and peple without difflocks to come and "fix" it
