A general comment on diesels: The RPM counter is redlined at 4000.... why does it go on to 7000 ?

My petrol struggles to go past 6000.

Driving along today, tank shows empty, 508km on the tank. I stop @ woolies for a lunch sarmie.
Get in start up, splutters & stalls. Start it again, struggles to start & stalls. Start it a 3rd time & rev it, all OK drive off.

A few km later, it cuts out, I try roll down a hill & then up to a Sasol, but run out of speed 200m short.
I crank it & it finally starts, drive into the Sasol, but you can feel it's not getting full fuel.
Throw in R150.00 (11 liters) of 10ppm & drive 12km to 'my' Fuel station.
I full up, takes 39.69 liters.

What I learnt: it has no fuel warning light & the tank only takes 54 liters...

    Consumption: 10.28km/liter or 9.72 liters/100km... not bad!

Manny, what size do they say the tank is? I know gobig had tank issues filling up, being an "isuzu" maybe it suffers a similar issue?

    Funny you should ask.
NO WHERE on the website do they make any mention of tank capacity.
So I looked in the owners manual - nothing (in fact the manual seems to be for a 2.4 petrol 4x4 Double Cab).
So I checked CAR magazine, they quote N/A as the capacity.

    So no one knows.
But I seem to recall it was small, like 62l.
The Isuzu on which it is based is 75l.

    It seems to fill fine...

Firstly, congratulations! And secondly, did all of it make it? You know, like door handles, mirrors, rear tail gate...

During this passed week, I spent some time on the internet, finding the only JMC boarding available as a new car in Namibia, advertised on the internet.

This morning, after I was done at the M.A.N congress, I drove there, and had a look at the bakkie. I could honestly only find 2 problems with it...

1: I think they saved on little things, like sound deadning (spelling) carpet, so some external noise penetrated the cab...

2: the engine is noisy. But I picked up that a lot of noise came in through the gear leaver.

I had a look at the double cab. It does have an aircon...
Its not bad! In fact, the rear seat is somewhat more comfortable than my GWM...

It feels well built, quite allright, and I was surprized at the built quality...

I could not take it out, as it is new, and not for demo.

So Manny, I am sorry. I have been a complete chop, and I have to apologise....

Don't remove the goggles yet he holds a grudge for quite (or is that quiet) some time...

The WORST braking of any vehicle tested by CAR magazine: JMC Baodian (it's NOT Boarding) Double Can 4x2.

For my purposes the JMC should be fine, but I'd never buy one for myself...

And yes, it's loud, I have to switch off before pressing the intercom when I arrive at client's...
