    Default Alva Gas Shower

    Hi,

Has anyone used the "Alva Gas Shower" that OW sells. Looks like easy setup compact unit. With a Piezo ignition and all.

I bought one just before leaving for the Swazi Raid, used it there as the facilities were not up to the quantity of campers. Must say, it is well designed, compact, easy to set up and works a charm. Heats the water quickly to nice temperature ( depending on your setting ). Only gripe I have with it, the moment the waterflow is stopped, the pilot flame also goes out, so now you have to have the shower running the whole time, using a lot of water, or stop the water flow, soap up, and when you want to rinse off you must "start" the flame again. That to me is not efficient. Took it back to OW and explained what I did not like, they phoned me yesterday to inform that they will change the setting to allow the pilot flame to keep on burning while waterflow is stopped, and once the waterflow is on again the burners will automatically ignite from the pilot flame, then it will work like the old farmhouse style gasgeysers and SWAMBO, the kids and I will definitely be happy campers. Will keep you updated when I get the unit back, might only be in a week or so.

I'm in the market for this kind of shower. How does it compare with the Kariba shower ITO price and useability. The Kariba also convert into a stove?

Johan, why did you decide on the Alva and not the Kariba?
    Everything is a hammer.

    Default Alva gas Shower

Works well and is great as everything packs away in the shower unit. We chose it as it looked safer for our small kids than the ones that are attached to the top of a gas bottle. The big advantage is that you can operate it yourself while you shower which is some other bush showers cannot do. I have the same problem with the Pilot light going out, which OW did you return yours to, to get the settings changed.

H2F, I decided on the Alva, 'cause @ R 1699.00 it was the most affordable, the way it packs away, all inside the unit, the weight or rather lack of it, and the safety for little ones in the vicinity. It is really practical, compact and very efficient.

Herman, olielekke ?? Ek ry mos nie 'n Datsun nie

Reng, bought it at OW Zambesi in Pta and returned it to them. They don't do the setting themselves, they send it to the GP agent for Alva gas, will definitely give feedback once it is done and we have tested it.

Ek het vir Alva gebel en aan hulle die probleem verduidelik.
Die ou daar het gese dat daar niks is wat hy vir my kan doen nie, dit is blykbaar so gemaak vir veiligheid.

Johan, hou ons asb op hoogte.

One can always let the shower head run into the container with the pump in order to circulate the water.

Ok, in daai geval s vir Alva Gas ek stuur solank die potjie "lotion" want hulle kan hulle produk maar druk, thanx, ek sal mre by julle stop vir my refund . . .

Weet die seker Offtopic, maar Kariba het nou hulle brander gedeelte verander van die ou cast-iron model na 'n baie ligter aluminium een. Die brander self is ook groter (meer vlamme). Lyk nogal heel nice, net bietjie duur.

Good day johan, did the suppliers managed to get the adjustment done yet for the pilot lamp to stay on when waterflow is stopped?

    Hi Braam,

Alva did not want to change the settings on the pilot flame and I gave the unit back to ODW and they gave me a full refund. I have heard that Alva is now looking at changing the operation of the pilot flame due to all the complaints they have had about the setup. I unfortunately don't know the outcome
