Default Noob alert!!! D3 DIY Maintenance

I bought a 2nd hand D3 and intend to do oil changes between the scheduled service intervals as I believe (hope) it will prolong engine life. Once the warranty expires I want to do most of the routine maintenance myself, get to know the car and save a few pennies for the expedition fund.

I'm new to the forum and haven't really figured it out properly. Are there any links or threads that discuss the how to's, do's and don'ts for amateur grease monkeys?
I tried searching, but I'm not really finding much.

    Advice would be very welcome

    Hi Kriek, it's a 2008 TDV6.

i'm from the off road and adventure biking school, but want to do more family trips into the bundus.

I do all of the maintenance on my bikes myself. I have a KTM 950 Adventure with almost 100 000km on and I'm hoping to also keep my new toy healthy for some time to come.

    Hi Andy

www.disco3.co.uk is exceptionally useful. I recommend that you join. There is a similar Australian site that is also very helpful.

Youtube has a surprising number of relevant videos.

What about a Heyens, dont they also provide lots of maintenance info.

I know my BIL has one for his Freelander and was able to do major repairs with just the Heyens as source...

    Thanks for the advice all!!

Seems like a very useful forum this, complete with BM riders who think KTM's are k..k

A Heyens manual on Amazon costs less than a service!!!

Another noob question. I read people put 2-stroke oil into the diesel, apparently it keeps the injectors clean. What are your opinions and what should the ratio be?

I use 2SO in my Disco.
Half tank 200mm, full tank 400mm.
Just check the other 2SO threads I believe FC spec is required - can't quite remember the spec. I buy 20L at a time and dispense into smaller bottles.

Another noob Q: Can you load something like Tracks 4 Africa on the Disco SAT NAV. I believe its quite pricey to have the SAT NAV updated by LR.
Is there a way around this?
