    3l D4D 4x4 Auto is around R520k so R460 is a fair saving.

Toyota sells about 900 to 1000 Flippers a month the last time I checked. Which admittedly was in April 2013 when I bought mine.

What would you buy instead. The Tuna seems to compare pretty well to it's competition. Genuine question, if the specs at the price are too low then all the bakkie based SUVs are in the same position?

A sensible person would argue that if there was a better value for money 4x4 SUV on the market the people would buy it, and Fortuner sales would drop.

But in these parts anyone buying a Fortuner is blind brainless sheep following the herd.

    The TrailBlazer 2.8 4x4 Manual is R504 000.00...

I don't think Freeway Toyota starts these Threads just so all of you can get in touch with the effects of the weak Rand....

When that changes then maybe they will become a player, but with 1 dealership in the Western Cape, 4 in the Eastern Cape, 43 nationally, they are always going to struggle. Right now, you would be taking a risk, IMO anyway.

It's a very poorly marketed product too. But spec wise they are difficult to beat.

Must say it never entered my mind when I bought mine 2 years ago. Even now I wouldn't bother to check it out past the google I just did. They have piles of work to do.

    Bite me! Chop!
I did my research - the Fortuner was perfect.
Was also the best bakkie-based SUV on the market for my needs taking all factors into account.

Yes, I do miss the thrill & excitement of break downs, the adrenalin rush of trying to source spares & the gut wrenching challenge of finding a dealership somewhere... maybe.
    I'm boring that way...
