In 2006 Toyota released the Fortuner. People were queing at dealerships hitting each other over their heads getting to the front of the queue. Since then every manufacturer played catch-up. Brilliant brilliant vehicle.

I just wish people would look at vehicles more objectively & not be brand fanatics.

My wife drove both, back to back. She's not into particular brands of cars at all. She reckoned it was no contest & the Rexton was the better drive. I'll get her one when some poor soul has lost his boots on one.

It's starting, but they don't sell enough of them for used ones to be very common.

The name Rexton is derived from the Korean Phrase 'Waheugs sohn' which means 'We're only joking'...

Yes, he might have to hold onto it a while longer.

Although resale is no worse than a 2wd Fortuna

XJ I get why you dislike a Fortuner so much, it's a soulless 3rd world developed appliance of a vehicle that's based on seriously old technology. But just like a white Defy it gets the job done reliably every time, and when it does go wrong spares and backup are available virtually anywhere. And that's exactly why I bought one.

It's all about what people are willing to pay. Remember say if it was R300 k and the others around R500 you would have said it's much cheaper than the others so then it must be bad, low quality, Jap scrap or whatever. Prices are drivin by the market, supply, demand etc.

    Default 2006 Fortuner

Ordered my 4x4 Tuna in 2006 before it was launched. Done 199000km's now and hasn't given one days problems. Best car ever.

    Bakkies cost more even more.

It's however very sadly time to part with it. R159k. Any offers?
