Hi Guys, Was wondering if any of you have put a 2.2 T6 on a dyno after cat removal or fitting a free flow exhaust?

Would be nice to find out.

am sure it will make a diffs and also be better for the engine...

Would be nice to see the diff in consumption
?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalytic_converterIn the U.S., all on-road light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles powered by diesel and built after 1 January 2007, must meet diesel particulate emission limits that means they effectively have to be equipped with a 2-Way catalytic converter and a diesel particulate filter.
Im not sure if this also applies to our regulations but elsewhere they do come with a catalyc convertor.

Climbed under to see if I had a cat, and found an oil leak.

Popped in at B&M Ford Swellendam. They are replacing the oil pressure switch/unit while I'm waiting.

While at the dealership I spoke to the main mechanic about the cat.
Mine does not have one fitted, and neither does most 2.2's. The 2.2's going to the overseas market does have them fitted and they are situated just after the turbo.
The 3.2's do however have a cat, situated on the same spot. For the overseas market they are also fitted with an injector that squirts diesel into the cat at certain intervals to help it burn clean. When this happens, depending on how you are driving at that moment, it could lead to some black smoke out the rear.
He has however seen 3.2's that wasn't fitted with a cat, and also ones that has the cat with the injector fitted.
Bottom line, if you have a cat in the line, I can see no reason why not to remove it. The only reason it is there is for European emission standards, and not for the health of the engine.
Niel. You are close, but not quite correct.
Sa has euro 2 emissions standard. The 2.2 doesn't need a cat but 3.2 needs it to meet it.
For European markets with euro 5 emission standards, both 2.2 and 3.2 has a cat just after the turbo.
They also have a diesel particulate filter (dpf) to catch particles. This is under the floor. The dpf has an extra injector to build up heat and burn off the particles in the dpf from time to time.
