    Default DIY bush trailer

My wife and I really enjoy the overlanding/camping game. We normally go in our 4x4 with rooftop tent and travel Bot/Nim/Zim/Moz

But sometimes this camp setup comes short in a few of the amenities that my wife would like to have.

So my idea to build a trailer came soon after my toppie built his trailer. This helped me in spotting things I liked and disliked in his design.

    Things we wanted in a trailer;

    1. Must be easy to setup and pack up, the focus is on one or 2 night stopovers.
    2. Must accommodate 4 people, we always have friends/family who would like to tag along but does not always have the gear.
    3. 12v is a must, so solar panesl, LED ligths 12v fridge.... 220v plugs will be fitted, but that is only there for when 220v is availible.
    4. hot water, so gas geyser and 12v water pump and water tank. this is for the sower and washing up.
    5. enough space for all the above and all the rest of the gear that goes with it.

So based on that and a couple of other things I got to work.

    Some notes:

    • yes it is not very aerodynamic.......
    • the trailer is not braked, that will be upgraded in due time

I still have so much work to do, I originally wanted to finish it for our December trip. But I am not so sure that I will be able to finish up.

    Still to do:

    1. do all the 12v wiring
    2. fit water tank, 12v pump, and geyser
    3. build fridge slide
    4. buy and fit the rooftop tent
    5. build some racks on the inside for various items
    6. fit gas bottle and pipe
    7. fit all the latches on drawers
    8. fit the solar panel
    9. build a ladder to climb on top
    10. do all the plumbing to the wash basin

    baie werk

    Nice.

How are you planning to get it licensed?

Looks like you started with a licensed chassis and put your own box on top. Nice!

Brakes & shocks? (In my book an essential requirement for any trailer.)

yep, that is right, the trailer was built at a manufacturer and I got it for a good price. So already licensed. I will definitely upgrade on the axle and shocks.

I just need to get speaker box material to cover it and then put some tie downs on.
