Default Original vs LUK Clutch Kits

Hey everyone, my 2004 Jeep Cherokee 2.5 CRD is due for a new clutch. With it having a dual mass flywheel, this makes it a lot more expensive from my understanding as you cant just skim the existing flywheel. My mechanic got a quote from Jeep for genuine parts that came in at R14 000 odd for the clutch kit and flywheel.

The only other option we have managed to find is a LUK kit that came in at around the R12 000 mark. My question is, has anybody had experience with using the LUK vs the original and is the R2000 difference in cost worth it to go with original parts? Any input will be greatly appreciated!

the original is made by LUK and sold as mopar. chek your original once you remove it, it bears the LUK stamp. LUK manufactures 95% of all OEM clutches.

I saw the LUK stamp on the old clutch when we pulled it. I thought that it had already been replaced previously. Interesting to know that - thanks so much! So then I may as well go and buy the LUK kit I assume.

Does anyone have any idea if the pricing that I was quoted sounds about right?

It did not work properly in my '96 3.5 Mitsubishi. Had to refit a Sachs.

LUK Clutches works. Just make sure you scheme the flywheel.

You can't skim it because it has a dual mass flywheel so it has to be replaced. I have found a flywheel easily but very few places seem to be able to get stock of the clutch kit

Ok. I see LUK have a Dual mass flywheel too.

I google'd and saw this on E-Bay. One always wonder why things in SA is so difficult to get.

    Have a look on this.

Yeah thats the same Flywheel I have managed to source here for R5100 which is not too bad judging by the pricing on ebay. You really can get anything off ebay.
