I previously owned an XCape which I sold in 2009. This off roader never gave me a days trouble. Then in 2015 I purchased another used XCape and currently still have this van. Once again not any problems.
This recent posting is the only one that I know of with what appears to have axle related issues. My advice is don't overload, fill your water tank closer to your destination and more importantly drive carefully and responsibly. Hitting potholes at high speed places tremendous forces onto the axle. If these forces exceed the yield point of the rubber in the axle, failure will be on the cards. It is a reasonably simple engineering issue not unique to the XCape.

I've been wondering which off road caravans does not use rubber axles. I've noticed the "squad" effect since i bought it in 2020 and it was always in the back of my mind that it might be the axle.

The biggest danger with rub-ax systems lies not with a constant load, but with shock loading. The magnitude of the stress exerted on the rubber elements when the yield point of the material is exceeded will push the axle towards failure. By driving with respect to the XCape it should not give any trouble. I do not believe that the axle is under designed for this Off-Roader.

I have towed my XCape through the Richtersveld over Akkedis Pass and many difficult places including river beds etc. only with success.

Been there myself. If the above is true then the damage was already present when i bought it.

2017 Xcape, have a rattle that seems to come from the fridge area. Culprit seems to be the fridge slide. Should the bearings that support the fridge slide be in contact with the slide when its in and out(2 on each side). Mine seems as if when slide is pulled out they are but when retracted only the 2 front bearings are in contact - assistance please.

I think the time before Xmas, New Years and then the Easter holidays prices and demand go up, now it might be the time that a lot of caravans and camping trailers will spend a few months parked, that’s when many people sell. Therefore prices are going down, more choice in the market and fewer people looking to buy. If you can, wait until the prices go up again towards the end of the year, if you want to sell.

We have since moved on and we are waiting for our Afrispoor Wildcat to be built, hopefully by the end of June. My wife and I are very excited about it and we can't wait but, I still miss my XCape.

Die hercules power db ding maak moles. hy se ek moet die ding uit ruk.
ding is baie temperamental.

Hy will ook he ek moet dit skuif sodat hy ligges en skakelaar kan sien van die deur af.

gedink om n flush mount db for hom in te sit teen die kant so day hy dit kan sien van deur af.( bet n JYork box agter aan vir goeters.

ek wil nou nie die [email protected]@l deur die honder se bek trek nie e alles oor ontwerp nie want ek het n neiging om alles te over engineer.
ek hoor graag van iemand wat of die ding reg het of upgrade of iets anders of uit gehaal het en verander het.

ek kan a spaner swaai en n draad swys,( lol) so ek kan help maar wil net hoor of iemand nie al klaar so iets gedoen het wat werk nie.

The Hercules charger is pretty useless as it has no intelligence and cannot "Float" the battery at ±13.6V as it needs to. On mine it hydrated the battery over time and destroyed the battery.
I fitted a Benton BX-2 7 Amp charger after disconnecting the Hercules charging circuit. This Intelligent charger keeps the battery charged continuously without any damage.
I will never recommend the Hercules. Use a Benton of a C-Tek charger and make it a built in feature for your caravan.

I started this thread in 2014 when we got our XCape, we loved it.

We have since moved on and we are waiting for our Afrispoor Wildcat to be built, hopefully by the end of June. My wife and I are very excited about it and we can't wait but, I still miss my XCape.
