Question X Trail 2.0 Limp mode

    Hi All

    Father in law drives a 2003 X-trail 2.0

It does not want to start and if you get it to start the ref counter does not work and if you drive it, it misses badly.

In other words it goes into limp mode.

From what I can gather it's the CAS (Crank Angel Sensor)?

Anyone know where I can get one from a scrappy?

    Thanks
    Chris

I replaced a set on a 2.5 a while ago. got them from the agents and it wasn't as expensive as i thought it would be. They supply a Upgraded version that comes in a kit which consists of the crankshaft sensor and the camshaft sensor. i would not go the 2nd hand route on this as it is a common problem on the xtrail's. Just throwing a stone in the bush here, Are you sure its a sensor issue ? Have you looked at the coil packs?
they don't like water at all.

    Thanks Mr Q

Have not looked at the coil packs but he has not been near any water that I could think off.

All sorted, bought the CAS kit from the stealers and had the sensors replaced etc.
Also replaced the plugs and air filter, will do oil and oil filter next weekend or so
