That sounds like the Technitop. I have one, works like a charm. Old ones had a hard fibreglass shell, these days its made from rotomoulded plastic, very strong and maintenance free.

The pictures uploded show mine open and closed. Opening and set-up takes about 2 minutes and closing takes about double that. We use fitted sheets and a duvet and an extra blanket for cold winters. We make up the bed before we close it up and it is ready for use when you open up.

    Regards

    Malcolm

Nice compact set-up Malcolm. My next vehicle will probably be a wagon and not a bakkie and I'm taking note of practical set-ups. How much are the Techni Tops going for?

Club mates of mine are very happy with their Hannibal, and also with the service they received from the company when they asked for special modifications to be made and when it did leak in one or two spots.

They have the Impi, which is very sleek and streamlined, but it does take up all the roof space because it doesn't fold double like many others (see here: http://www.hannibal.co.za/default.asp?pageid=555).

I bought mine in 1998 and paid R3100 each (I bought two at the time). I sold the 2nd one with my old trailer. I am not up to date with current prices. 4x4 Megaworld are the manufacturers these days, try them.

I found that the pioneers Eezi Awn is and always will be on the forefront of RT tents. Don't think there is anything better than theirs. My opinion not gospel.
