    Default Need Touareg advice

I am looking at purchasing a First/Second generation Touareg and need some advice from the forum experts.

There is a 2005 petrol Touareg that i have taken for a test drive and i absolutely loved every minute of the drive. It ticks all the right boxes. FSH, clean exterior, interior and good mechanical condition, low kilos, air suspension. Except for one problem, the trip computer displays average consumption as 19l/100km.

The petrol i drove is selling for R130K, equivalent diesel's are more scarce and a bit more pricey. I can buy alot of petrol with the money i save buying the petrol Touareg.

My questions are, how can i improve the extra urban consumption?
What difference would modifications such as decat exhaust, performance chip ets have on consumption?

My budget is roughly about 200k for a Touareg, should i just pay the extra and get good diesel?

    Thanks
    Wikus

You are going to get a high mileage Touareg in your budget, so the petrol option is definitely safer in terms of potential maintenance costs. Fuel consumption being the negative.

Get a v10 for R160k and spend R40k on a good warranty or invest the R40k in case you need it for repairs.

Get an oil analysis, compression test and injector scan via VCDS done before you buy.

no. Get the car to Tim Legge for a once over and contact landyworx for an oil test.

Don't sign anything before both don't give the go ahead.

Remember, if the has been for sale then others have test driven it, and probably driven it hard so the trip could not be a true reflection of what the consumption could be. Just a point to note
VW Touareg, Air Suspension, Centre and Rear Diff lock and all the bells and whistles
