Thought I'd share this great post by Bob Mabena here. Not because I'm such a great guy but because it will be easier for me to find again later.

Hi Gert, I have 2 questions for you regarding your setup.

    1. What size gas bottles are those, I have the same brackets (2007 Model) but my van came with 2 x Cadac 7's which don't fit the bottle holders?
    2. I see your jockey wheel is still on your caravan, I have problems on my Defender that it pushes against the Spate Wheel, did you some how extend your tow bar?

    Also tow with the defender.

Guys, this is a way out request, but if any of you happen to stumble across an Explorer in really bad shape, please give me a shout.
I'm looking at doing a project, and want the Explorer as the base starting point - so the condition of the van is immaterial (actually the worse it is, the cheaper I could likely pick it up for)

If you see anything, please drop me a contact!!

I totally remove my jocky wheel when towing. I fix it to lay flat on top in front of the nose compartment.

    Hi Mark

There is a Facebook group, Jurgens explorer owners, that would be your best chance, there was one on there last year with the inside gutted, not sure what it sold for but worth a try.

You talking about the canvas between the hard to and the c caravan? If you're in the East Rand area contact Bluehole trading. I'm sure Lienkie van do this for you.

    Hi Malduik

Mine will become available early in May as we have ordered a new van. Will send you a PM when I advertise.

I have been following the second hand market for a while to try and fix a price for it. Attached some prices I picked up from various sites over the past weeks.

Mine is a 2009 model. Still need to decide price.

What at an investment! I bought my 2010 model last year with 3 deep cycle batteries installed, all lights converted to led, a travel blanket and a full tent with the add a room for R 185k. Looks like I can sell it for about R 25k more 8 months later and that is not even taking into account all the modification I've made.

Sorry guys been awhile since I posted

Gerhardvr26 - have you considered attaching your jockey wheel to the coupler to save some space in the front nose cone? I had a pipe fitted to the existing hole in the coupler, the jockey wheel can slide over this to keep it out of way and safe. I did a trip through Botswana last year without any problems, you'll also notice that I tied my stone protector to the shaft in the "close"up" ("close-up" is a crop of a photo I took while going through Nata on the way back)

Attached a mod I did about 1.5 years ago (you can also view in #1171, added a tent pole to the skid bars and a tent peg tool box to nose as per the photo's, some of my ground sheets also fit in the tent pole box)
