Front fold out bed. The opening in te new 2014 model is much higher and more comfortable to get into than a 2008 I looked at. On the other hand, the bed is a little narrower? When did the opening change?, model, year?

Same width (fold out section), but height changed around 2009. Earlier ones had a cupboard above the opening which was nice.

I replaced my electric box on my 2011 Xplorer with a HcdP unit,
with solar controller and 300w inverter. Far better than the rubbish
you get with the van. Job is easy, just replace and reconnect wire
for wire. I extended the solar wires to a plug outside next to the
ac input - put up panels and plug in! This unit is much more battery
friendly ("smart" charger).

Sadly no. I think they work on the principle that if it isn't broken there's nothing to be fixed. I did request them to change to HCdP units, but haven't heard anything back.

Mine is a 1999 and I did some mods, but only to what some of the newer ones have.
Table installed to fit the side of van.
Old basins (for dishes and bathroom) removed and fitted alu frames that I built myself with alu sq tubing and connect it connectors with addis plastic basins. (If someone want these old basins, its up for grabs, for free)
All lights changed to LED
Some more 12v plugs all round
Old shower room removed and fitted Privy tent
Had a "stand-in" tub made for the privy to stand in and shower with normal bath plug outlet that fits directly to swiming pool pipes to drain water away. Everyting fits into one bag.

Only one thing that I still want and need to change is to remove the 2 water bottles in nose and fit a decent watertank. Waiting for a quote from Campworld in Witbank to fit a 100l belly mounted tank as on the new vans. Then my mods will be complete.

Belly mounted water tank? Did you do that as well, price?

No, did not go that route as the 110L on the new vans could not fit the old model chassis (without serious modifications).
I fitted the 80L tank inside the rear of the van as per the 2006-2007 models. Tank and filler neck was R2000.00 and inline pump R900.00.

I paid R140.000 for mine, some extra's included, in 2007, brand new. As it is only the two of us I never had a reason to upgrade to a newer model.
To late now, as it became unaffordable for us.(Or maybe if I can get R200,000 for mine!

You'd probably get around R150k for yours now. Just shows how they keep their value. Jurgens products are well known in the market and people stick to what they know and trust.

Fold Out Bed; is it the same bed as in the Xcape? I would like it a little longer! What is the size of the bed after the convertion.

Have had no problems so far with towing on the Triton 3.2 and Pajero Sport 3.2 Auto. I prefer the Triton 3.2 Manual when towing, but thats just me.

Taken delivery of my 2011 Xplorer. It is in Cape Town and I have had all of 1 hour to look it over. Very good condition and bought out of the 4x4community classifieds. It should be coming up in 2 weeks to Windhoek... I cannot wait. Etosha will be the first big trip. It was supposed to be a surprise for SWAMBO but couldn't keep my mouth shut.

P.S. Is there a plan with what pole goes where? My dad put up the tent to make sure it was all there and figured it out, but he said the poles are colour coded but no plan on where they go.

Yes the telescopic poles goes 90 degrees with the caravan and the shorter poles that fits into each other goes parrallel with the caravan. hope this helps.
