Hi Guys, anybody know who could do the side bed fold out mod in the Somerset West area? (Western Cape)
Also considering the full pull out mod option for the kitchen.....any pointers?

Check in with the guys at Cara Camp - they might either do or point you in the direction of someone. Additionally try Swanie's in Stikland.

Thanks George, Cara Camp not to keen on non standard mods....they say they cant guarantee them which I understand. (They obviously need to stick to Jurgens approved mods) They especially would not do the kitchen full pull out mod & did not recommend it.

Just now drove +-50km to take the Xplorer in for its service. Fuel consumption (on the computer) was 5.2km/l

Just traded my 1999 old toppie Xplorer in on a 2008 Model. Taking delivery on Saturday. Can't wait.

Did 6 days in CKGR two weeks ago with the old toppie. Absolutely solid for that old model. No problems what so ever. But children are getting bigger and the front bed on older models is getting a bit of a pain

Did anyone recently trade in a 2008 from Freestate area at GC Caravans in Witbank?

I have a 2007 Explorer and the battery charging system is cumbersome to use. I have to check the battery monitor to see if it is full and then manually turn off the charger. Lost two deep cycle batteries this way.

Has anyone done a modification to install a fully automated charging system?

If you have done it, would you mind sharing it with the group in detail what and how you did it? I am not very tech savvy and would thus appreciate detailed information.

I got R95 000 for the 1999. The 2008 was R179 000.00.

I could have gone the route you did, but I've been rebuilding Off-road trailers and caravans for more than 10 years now to get it how I want it. I don't have to lay a hand on this one, it is all we need.

I always wonder how they determine the secondhand value of caravans, just glad they seem to keep their value nicely

Are there major differences between the 1999 and 2008, except that the 2008 is obviously newer?

If I think quickly :

Front fold out bed
Water location and capacity
Full slide out kitchen
Interiour newer look
Chasis painted v.s. galvanised
Shower layout/location
Awning setup

Might miss a few, still new to the Xplorer familia

Also 60L Minus 40 in older ones. Newer has 80L National Luna
Bit more cupboard space in the new
Older ones had no display for waterlevel and battery voltage
