Default Confusing Option in GL350 Quote?

A MB dealer here sent us a quote for the 2014 GL 350, and the options list has:

    828 Omission of emmission systems

Just curious what this means, as the dealer is not being very clear. Does this mean this option makes the engine run properly on 500ppm diesel?

    Thanks.

I might be incorrect but I think its when the CATs are removed, the ECU wont complain that the CATs are not functioning. They should not charge you for this, it should just be disabled in the ECU. Its disabled in my ML.

    Thank you Ne3M.

I was under the impression that this would mean removal of the Catalytic Converter and the Diesel Particulate Filter, so that the engine can easily use 500+ ppm.

Please advise? What needs to be disabled for the engine to happily use 500ppm daily?

it could be removal of one or a combination of the following

    adblue system
    catalytic converter(s)
    DPF system

    Hello MariusFourie,

Thank you for the reply. So my main question is, if the 3 above are removed, will the engine safely use 500ppm (and above?) on a daily basis, and achieve longevity? (Of course I understand that this would require more frequent oil changes, like every 5000kms)

    Thank you.

Aha. Can the lambda sensors be removed or disabled? If they cannot, what damage (and how often) would they "foul up" due to the use of 500ppm?

Not sure how quickly they may foul up but they can be removed and replaced with dummy sensors or a tuner can tune out the sensor.

The mb system would auto generate this in sa.
    There will be no charge.
