    Default My day/week is made

We had a visit from these two majestic birds this morning in the Ogaden, what a sight.

The Spur-winged lapwings were waiting in anticipation for the eagles to take to the air before they escorted them off the property

Fantastic! What a beautiful and majestic privilege!

I got a glimpse of our breeding pair of Black Eagles this morning. I really need to setup the tripod and the 120-400mm lens.

Hi Chris and All, Many thanks for the compliments. I have a Canon 100D with the 100-400mm f/4-5.6L lens.

The juvenile was back on Saturday and actually perched on the crane boom tip which was extended at the time. Unfortunately work had to interrupt his fun

You're a lucky man with these sightings.
That 100-400 is a very versatile lens and excellent value for your money.

    Brilliant!

But I only have a 1966 Roberts here and I know my books at home do not have the new nomenclature, so what is a spur-wing lapwing? Blacksmith plover?

Cory, different birds but as far as I know the name, Blacksmith plover, is still used although the international tendency is to use lapwing as the collective instead of plover.

The Spur-winged fellow has a very definite spur as per the first attachment
