    Default Baviaanskloof hierdie naweek

Ons was einde laasjaar by Rooinek gewees.

    This might help.

I agree with Chris re the road from Elandrivier to either Steytlerville or Willowmoore. Nice route. Beautiful views from the Telkom tower.

Doringkloof on the Western side of the Nature reserve has a few very cool trails. There is one trail going from the farm over the mountains to Kareedouw. You'll need about 8 hours for that 60km, but it is really great. Check out the website: http://www.baviaans.co.za/4x4/

This is a nice 4x4 route, but not major challenging. What I would do for a two day trip is to go from Humandorp past Hankie/Patensie up the kloof till just past the Doringkloof trail and sleep over at Bakkrans for the night, so that you have the whole next day to do the 4x4 trip over the mountains to Rob's place at Baviaanskloof lodge (even though it is not technically inside the baviaans kloof, but that is splitting hairs). From there it is normal dirt roads to Kareedouw and you should be back in Humansdorp before it is dark...

The caves on the Willowmore side are very nice, and the people friendly.
    Recommend them any time
    Enjoy!!

we left on saturday afternoon, slept over at doodsklip, drove a bit further the next morning up till smitskraal and returned to doodsklip, packed up and left. was all good. rout is pretty bad though - haven't seen it quite as bad ever. I reckon that in less than a year it will be a very challenging route through the baviaans. I must add that if it rains for a day or so and you try to go up to bergplaas and over down to rooihoek etc it will be REALLY challenging. Can't wait for some rain - then i'm defnitely heading out there for the day!
