Stayed over at Boma in the Bush in Pietersburg on 23 April 2021. Great place enroute to the north, clean and really not expensive at R200pn. Although the N1 is close the noise was not a deal breaker for us. Clean ablution etc.

Then 3x nights Punda Maria and in comparison to 4 or 5 other camps we visited this week Punda was really not well looked after and ablution and maintenance require attention. Camp sites was also not as well kept as we have become accustomed from Sanparks.

Also had 4 x Shingwedzi and 1x Satara.

Had to find the perfect camp spot to take the new Lux on her first tow... we were not prepared for how beautiful this place was, these photos do no justice. Private bushcamp, no-one around!

The site has a paraffin outside shower, which did not work, and this is where the Baobab shined, we simply put up the two back panels plus the room divider and had a great warm shower every evening.

Four days of no wind, perfect temps...

This is really more sad news about KNP. We found the state of ablutions very diappointing in Satara in Feb.

    Hi All

I am looking forward to delivery of my Baobab in a week or two.

I received an insurance quote for the Baobab which I thought was high. If I compare it to the price I pay on my Discovery which I drive (risk) every day I cant understand the price for the Baobab which will be used for a few weeks a year. Kept in a shelter in a secure estate.

I would appreciate comments and if anyone would be prepared to share what they pay to insure a Late model Baobab I'd really appreciate it.

    My quote was R1107.00.

    Hi Henk

Just visited Punda Maria - really enjoyed it.

The camp was busy and in my view there are not enough toilets and showers to handle the volume. The top shower - not the one next to the hide - had a problem with hot water and this remained so till we left. It wasn’t a problem as there was hot and cold at the ablution next to the hide.

The ablutions in general are in need of a facelift in my view. It didn’t detract from the visit and I will go again.

Personally I wouldn’t hassle with using your own shower. Water is available at the central kitchen only and not at each campsite so you could run out of water

    Enjoy!

Just back from our first trip in our new Bosluis 2 and Hilux - 8 great days in Kgalagadi.

Needless to say, everything worked as designed; extremely comfortable and well worth the wait.
What really surprised was the fuel economy of the 2.4 GD6 4x4 auto - total distance travelled was 2896 km - most of which was N and R roads. Cruise control st at 100 kmph GPS speed. Overall consumption was 9.3 lt/ 100 km actual calculation.
