I had uploaded one of my favourite videos on our Namibia & Botswana trip report, but looking at it again today, I have just noticed our Bush Lapa in the background at Nxai Pans South Camp. The Boskriek bravely stood its ground, even in the face of this mighty elephant:

    https://youtu.be/yawjUUwO0yU

I think that everybody that camps at Nxai Pans gets to know the elephants up close. Everything about this big guy was relaxed, therefore so were we. He was also coming into our space and knew we were there. Love the sound of his footsteps

Had a great weekend at Stilte Game Farm again. Can highly recommend this place. First trip with the MU-X, very happy. Did 446 km`s, about 150 of that was a mix of all sorts of gravel. Got 8.2 km/l.

As per our Easter tradition, we spent a couple of nights along the west coast near Brand se baai. As usual, it did not disappoint, apart from the amount of Chinese water bottles littering the area, obviously thrown off fishing boats. My kids picked up 87 bottles around our camp, all bagged and disposed of in Lutzville.

The latest camping gadget, a shower floor, made by a forum member's wife, proved to be an awesome addition and is highly recommended.

..and picking up a perfect condition 1980s SAB beer bottle was quite extraordinary.

    Dear fellow Bushlapians,
since last week the proud owner of a Boskriek (#3585). Haven't been able to use it yet as we are waiting for the numberplate... long story... short story, I'm in Zimbabwe...
Hope to do initial trips in Zimbabwe soon over the coming months, but also start thinking / planning a trip to Botswana / Kgalagadi.
The number of videos and examples of trips are a bit overwhelming to be honest, so any tips on where to start would be greatly appreciated.
Absolutely happy and prefer to camp off-grid and ideally stay in remote places.
Should I start with booking campsites first? Where is this best / easiest?
    Suggested routes?
Any advice will be greatly welcome,
    Peter

Have a look at the Botswana threads for advice and routes. But as for booking campsites first, I'd suggest you at least book in advance (i.e. before arrival but not necessarily everything right now). Often you can't just rock up and get a spot and during school holidays you definitely won't get a spot. Give the Botswana Dept of Wildlife a call: +267 3971405.

As for you weapon of choice, the Bush Lapas come into their own in remote places. Enjoy!

It was fantastic, really enjoyed Lotheni. Of the beaten track so I presume not alot of people go there? All depends on your definition of "condition". We used our own shower even though there are hot water (gas) available, flush toilet and place for rubbish so what more do you need?

Camp sites are awesome. We booked Blesbok site, most shade.
