OK, here is my DIY double battery project. The existing one is a NL portapac. I used Anderson plugs from the 2nd battery to plug into the NL box. The theory being that I have a degree of protection from the circuitry. It can be now used both off and on the vehicle.

Pic 1 shows how I can use both battery's in the house to run an inverter off the grey Anderson plug

Pic 2 shows how I can link both batteries and still receive charge from the alternator via the red input plug on the portapac

other pics just show wiring. There is a battery monitor on the NL box and a dual one in the vehicle. A single one on the separate box.

I can also when camping disconnect the 2nd(3rd) battery to use in camp or tent.

Quite chuffed with my little project

My "slide-out" camp kitchen. Fully accessible, even when the bakkie if fully loaded. You can also take the kitchen out of the bakkie and park it in your tent.

    My kitchen-in-case effort:
I fiited a carry handle on the top lid for carrying it like a suitcase.
Constructed from 6mm plywood covered with 0.75mm aluminium stucco and flightcase lidmaker extrusions on the edges. I also made two small wooden drawers to keep matches, lighter, etc for the spaces on the right.
Size; approx 25cm wide, 27cm high and 40cm long.
