Amazing. What material did you use to make it out of.... and what machine is that that could handle sewing it.

Die retail mark is 'n rip-off; R800 vir 'n stel scissor-type pote vir 'n opvou tafel.

    Thanks Janus
Material is a camo canvas bought from material shop (turned out to be exactly the same material my fridge cover is made of)
I plan to build a new awning and didn't buy the same but rather ripstop canvas (lighter and easier to work)

Machine was a wedding gift 21years ago (2nd hand then already) Bernina
Proper needles are important. I've done leather work on the same machine as well.
I would like to rather get an industrial as I don't think it is made for this.
I remember when I was a kid (1980) my father got my mom to redo the complete caravans canvas tents on her Bernina. Biggest hasle was moving and feeding the panels

I have an ancient brother machine from about 1940. It is all steel. Works like a dream.

Where did you get rip stop canvas from, I see you are also in Pretoria?

Default Power Port in the Defender

    Hi Guys,
I just completed the attached power pod in the cabin of the defender as with all the things such as cell phones, Ipads, GoPro, GPS, Tire monitor, etc, there never seems to be enough power outlets to power everything.
The eight ports are all all powered with a dedicated power line from the battery fitted with a 10 amp in line fuse.

The MUD (on which the power outlets are mounted) provides enough space for additional switches such as the cruise control, electric cooling fans, etc.
    Regards
    Zak

Its not only about knowledge, its about time, tools, budget, materials and in my case who you know more than what you know.

I drew up the plans, and got all the pieces together, borrowed a grinder to cut the bits to size, and then took the pieces of the puzzle to work and our handyman mechanic did the welding for me.

Basically you just need to start with a basic drawing, then measurements, and then your creativity should be kickstarted already, and you go with the flow.

Hope this inspires you to DIY something soon... a lot more sentiment goes into your own creation than into something you bought for an arm and a leg.
