    Default Malaysian 777 missing

Just seen a live statement from the Malaysian transport ministry, stating they still have no idea where it is. Everything still pure speculation

Some people are surprised as the 777 has a pretty spotless track record, and there were what appear to be a few stolen passports being used. *shrug*

Edit: I see they were stolen in Thailand, probably unlucky mules and unrelated. Debris is hard to find in the sea.

I heard on the news in one of the 584 shops I had to visit today, the plane was confirmed as having crashed in the sea?

Senior US official tells @NBCNews: 'We are aware of the reporting on the 2 stolen passports. We have not determined a nexus to terrorism yet, although it's still very early and that's by no means definitive. We're still tracking'

Its my understanding that modern aircraft have a live data feed to its owner/manufacturer at all times.

If this is the case why does it not flag an emergency and report gps location when a sudden and excessive drop in altitude occurs, or decompression, or deviation from route.

Its laughable, how the owners always pretend to try to contact a missing plane hours after it disappears, like it may just be stuck in traffic. Its insensitive to the families as it tries to hide or postpone an obviously terrible tragedy.

"Vietnam Releases Photograph of Suspected Fragment of Missing Jet

A Vietnamese search aircraft located fragments Sunday floating in waters off southern Vietnam that are suspected of coming from a Malaysia Airlines jetliner that went missing a day earlier.

The fragments were believed to be a composite inner door and a piece of the tail, Vietnam’s ministry of information and communication said in a posting on its website. They were located some 80 kilometers south-southwest of Tho Chu island.

A photograph of one fragment floating in the water was released: http://infonet.vn/can-canh-manh-vo-nghi-op-cua-so-may-bay-malaysia-tren-bien-post121635.info"

Debris found are not from the aircraft. Oil slick still to be confirmed if it is related to aircraft. Possibly a midair breakup is the latest.

I really dont know why they only searched 20NM (36 km) radius, 777 in cruise does 7 to 8NM per minute.
Radar contact lost at 35000ft. Taking best glide at 240kts.
    3000fpm ROD. Which is extreme
    That gives you 46NM.

Taking a 767 gliding capabilities they could have gone 70NM
