    Default Bluetooth virus

I was standing in the police station this evening (long story) and a message comes in. Opened the phone and it says:

You have received a bluetooth virus. Do you want to open it?

Needless to say I didn't open it. Went to the inbox and struesbob there's a file sitting there. Nuked it.

Any comments? Safety measures? I must have some sort of anti virus on here otherwise what stopped the virus?

you must dowload antivirus software onto your phone. You will find it in your phone info. It should also remind you when its out of date. This has become a new problem lately.

I've been sent those too. Spike, on your half laptop Nokia, you can set your bluetooth too only connect to specified devices, ie your Laptop and car kit. Too all others you will be invisible.

If however you are sent an SMS with an attachment, nuke it.

And even when Blueteeth are on, you should keep your phone visibility to 'hidden' unless you are actually trying to connect to a new device. If people can't 'see' your device they are not likely to try and connect to it.

to my knowledge Nokia and Siemens phones were the only ones with the virus problems, they shared their software.

Nokia has far too many software problems for liking!!!
