    Default Sale of Vehicle

I sold my Series 3 this afternoon, and should be handing it over tomorrow afternoon.

I however cannot seem to find the registration certificate. We have a file with all the certificates in them, for all the cars, and when we need to make copies for cross border travel, we take it out and it goes right back after the trip.... except it seems the one for this car, which only ever once left the country a few years ago, never made its way back.

Is the paper that the license disk comes on sufficient for a change of ownership, or will I need to go draw a duplicate from the license department tomorrow? I realise I am clutching at straws here, but it just seems crazy to go get a duplicate, and then in a day or 2 the new owner gets a new certificate printed anyway

While you are there, get the yellow form and make sure to complete it.

I think you also need a copy of the buyer's ID.

Until the yellow form is handed in, all speeding fines and parking fines, etc is still your problem.

when you sell a car u get the white form and a yellow one. the yellow one takes it out of your name. that way if new owner does not register it you don't pay traffic fines or late liscense disc for said vehicle.

chances are you will have to wait 3 days to get the duplicate. Here in JHB when you apply for a duplicate registration form you have to do it in person and you WILL wait 3 days to get it. sorry if its bad news...

Nope, duplicate will take you 10 days, not negotiable....... Go to PTA North (Klerksoord), much easier and less people. But will still take you 10 days and some cash (cannot remember the amount). Good luck, oh, and do not use the "runners". Ask at the counters if you are not sure what to do where and how and when.....
