    Default Barberton- stop for lunch

On sunday I want to stop for lunch at barberton on the way back home, from badplaas. (camping there on wekend).

Any recommendations? I have never been to barberton.
Any sight seeing worth squeezing in?

    There be a Wimpy!

There is a museum and from there a Heritage walk down to an old steam locomotive from the mining era.

The R38 from Badplaas is very scenic and in good condition, try stop near the top of the little pass for some amazing views.

KFC is pretty much the other option but wimpy's location is better...

    SJC,

Pappas is a nice place for lunch - it is my first choice in town.
The museum and heritage trail is also pretty cool, but I recommend you give the geo trail a try on the Bulembu road. Check https://mobile.twitter.com/BGBGeotrail for a few pics and such.

About 10kms out on the Kaap Muiden road is Diggers Retreat. Lovely outside setting next to the pool for a well prepared lunch. Call Mark at 013 719 9681 if you so wish.

Pity I'll be in Gauteng this weekend (Rocky Horror Show, you know) as I could have shown you a few choice places in the mountain.

    Enjoy

Just leave the MTB at home. I almost ended in hospital last year due to the mountain as you come into town on your right hand side.

You can take it up with the car, and ho drive through the plantations. Its really scenic up there.

Thanks guys. Was thinking of a place where i can have a sitdown lunch and a beer. Im not much of a pizza fan, although usually these places will do steaks, t-bones etc?

Visit Papa's. You wont regret it. You can have anything else, not only pizza. Good food, good beer, good feeling!

Moet bieg. Ek was in barberton vandag. Het rond gery, my foon se battery was pap. Kon glad nie hierdie papa's restaurant kry nie. Het by n petrol stasie gevra, maar die ou se aanwysings het my glad nie gehelp nie. Kon nie op die internet kyk nie, battery pap. Niks op my gps nie. Toe eindig ek op by spur in west end...

Next time try THE COCO PAN restaurant, its across the road from the museum & next door to the the Nissan petrol station.

They do a fillet steak patty hamburger, the best burger I have ever had, I have been going there for over 20 years. Dont expect much as far as decor goes as its a plain old basic restaurant but their food is great.
