Rene, we are hoping to go as far north as Sudan on a trip next year. I would love a report back. Do you have a blog or website , or even better are you going to post a report on this forum?

Hi guys,
Andrea and I will fly to Khartoum beginning of April as we would love to get back into Sudan, we planned 4 weeks and 3 of them we will spend travelling about the country, the tour starts in Khartoum and will lead us up the Nile valley past all amazing monuments (pyramids, temples, tombs, rock engravings) till Wadi Halfa, we will then go back South and make our way towards the Red Sea coast to Suakin, we hope to dive/snorkel there. Time permitting we would love to go till Kassala to see the camel herders and maybe even get as far South as Dinder Nationalpark.
We will mainly camp in the desert (Sudan has lots of it. ) if possible. We have been in Sudan in 2009 and have always meant to come back.
As we will get down to Southern Africa this year, we want to stop there and rent a car. We have 2 more free seats, so if ever anyone of you wants to join us - you are welcome!!! Just bring a sleeping bag, camera and enjoy!
Here is a little video preview of Sudan as we experienced it:

If ever you want to do something unusual this season, then come to Sudan with us!!!
Greetings
Rene

We have a website, I have updated my signature, if you can´t see it yet, here is the website:

We will post something on our website, although it may be special stories, our first 2 trips have the complete diaries, but we found out that doing this in 3 languages is very time consuming, therefore we will rather post articles we write for magazines or as I said, those special stories. There will be photos though!
Yes, I will report back, I never posted much here, but we need to start being a bit more active.
Hallo Stan,
we also want to go in 2015 to Ethopia. When you are going? I would like to hier from you.
Thank you,
Jochen
Jochen, planning a long trip next year. We have not nailed down our departure date yet but will be leaving within the first few months of 2015 and slowly make our way northwards. We will have no fixed itinerary, time schedule or route but will turn back before Egypt.
The main emphasis will be game reserves and wilderness areas, as much off the beaten track as possible. I would be very interested in your plans too!

I was planning a trip in that region about 3 years back. Unfortunately one of our friends, a Kenyan, sister got kidnapped there about 2 years back. They are still holding her for ransome. Sort of put us off the idea.

Well there has been a war going on in the South for the past 3 months with lots of rival militias and arms supplies.

South Sudan not good at the moment, north is fine...
Would love to see Sudan some day.
@JochenP, you can't drive a Unimog in the game reserves? too big?
