In 2000 I bought a tent at Outdoor Warehouse and they gave me a few sheets. (A few sheets for every 1000 spent). I'm still using them today. Not really better than ice, but sometimes you dont want soggy stuff in your cooler bag.

    They work well.

    My experiences...

    • Tend to leak as soon as they start to soften, especially if they're in your fridge bouncing around....
    • Can't put them in your Whisky

Comments made so far does not sound very positive. I was made to believe by this 4x4 shop owner in the Southern Suburbs that these are the next best thing to sliced bread. Smaak my die ou het my gevat vir 'n aap!!!

    Default Techni Ice

Not worth the price - and its true, they do leak and that stuff is gooyi, smelli and spoils your toebroodjies - even bobjaan wont eat it.
Maybe there are different makes? Got mine from Farm City.
When we were in Botswana in 2007, the lady in charge of "kitchen" took dry ice - and that kept everyting frozen the whole week.

I personally wouldnt buy them again. I would rather buy fresh ice, most garages sell by now . Or you could spend R5000-00 on a nice fridge/freezer.

Ja this the thing, I bought the nice fridge/freezer for R5000 and was persuaded to use it as my freezer and the cooler box with the techni ice sheets as my fridge.

I think I should pay that a shop a visit with the techni ice [email protected]#t!!

No just use ice bricks... we use the Engel as a freezer with the cooler box for unfrozen stuff.... cycle bricks through it... we still had ice and frozen meat after 10 days in the Richtersveld...

    Default Ice Sheets ?

The active ingredient in all the ice sheets/ freezer blocks etc is simple water. For the reason that you cant beat the specific heat of water and the latent heat of fusion of ice( the amount of cooling power associated with the melting of ice).
Why not use water in small plastic bottles which are then frozen ?
The big advantage is that when melted , the water is drinkable. Could just save your butt if brken down in the middle of a large salt pan in Botswana !

    Cheers Dave

    These sheets also work well
You fill them with water, tie a knot to seal and send them to the freezer.
    Buy them at most supermarkets
