    Exclamation The Moegatle weekend.

I have two annual fixtures that I always attend. The one is the December "3 Province trip" and the May "Kareekrans" trip. Both are something different, and are more driving orientated with a bit of Camping involved....

For me, its more about the driving, the campfire chats are an addition, and a bonus. This is 4x4Community after all, and not "Die Kampvuur"

This new trip that Franz and I are planning, is no exception.

Every one that has been to Moegatle always complains that they did not get to do the whole trail, well now we will have the whole weekend to do the trail as we please, I will also be arranging that we have a guide so as not to miss anything.

This is a scary trail, but what makes it nice is that all the obstacles have a bypass. So you only do what you want to do...

    Their website: http://www.moegatle4x4trails.co.za/wcontact.php

    So here goes:

The weekend of the 8th of March

    • The campsites house up to 40 camp sets
    • There are 2 chalets
    • There are 3 rooms
    • There is 1 park home ..... for the commin group
    • There are 2 Caravans.... see point above...

The living arrangements are thus sorted...

    • Rooms (3), with central bathroom - R300/Night
    • Chalet 1 - R400
    • Chalet 2 - R450
    • Camping - R75/person if single or R150/family
    • Trail - R200 for the whole week end

Please not that a 50% deposit is required at least 2 weeks before the time.
Please also note there are NO card facilities available on sight.

The rooms and chalets require you to book at least 2 nights.

    Her e-mail is: [email protected]

    Please book directly with her.

    The itinerary is as follows:

    • Friday - Arrival, greet, set up camps and get to know each other.
    • Saturday - The main trail - under guidance.
    • Saturday Evening - "Groot kuier om die vuur" at the Boma..
    • Sunday - All the extreme bits, under guidance.. Then home.....

The reason for spending the whole weekend there is mainly to be able to do the whole trail.... all the tiny loops that most of us miss because we only have a limited amount of time...

We can all then say with conviction.... "I have done Moegatle"
There will be a limit on the amount of cars, so get your name in fast...

Remember that all the obstacles have bypasses... You only do what you feel that you can or want to do...

The thing about Moegatle is (and thats what makes it such an amazing trail)

It is what you want it to be....

If you want extreme, you got it... If you want just difficult, you got it.... if you want technical, you got it, if you want just a moderate to easy trail, then you can have that too....

Its very addictive having Sakkie at Moegatle.

And we should not have more than 10 vehicles in a group, but multiple groups can run around Moegatle without impacting one another.

I would say not more than 20-25

Seeing that we are there the whole day and that we will miss The Klip and co on the main trail, I thought we could be could be slightly bigger groups. Say 12 - 15

But thats not cast in stone..

Yes, but he had to decline as he will be away from home.
