Default My Wildtrak Finally Arrived :)

I walked into Ford N1 City on 9 July 2013 and signed a OTP for a Wildtrak 3.2 d/c a/t 4x4 in Sea Grey. Today, 6 months and 1 day later it arrived at the dealer, what a long wait. Worst of all, I flew out of SA on Monday and will only be back home at the end of February so I can only drive it then.

To be honest I'm not even excited about driving it, I just want to kit it out. SJS canopy has been lying in my garage since mid December, mags and tyres lying ready at the tyre shop and I've got a list as long as my arm of things I want to fit, cant wait

I hope the wait was worth it

@Mickeynelster, het hom hoekal deur Edrich gekoop, hy het hom eintlik vir my al 14 Dec belowe...

@AVM, baie dankie. Wildtrak is beskikbaar in Wit, Swart, Silver, Oranje and die Sea Grey. As ek 'n XLT gevat het sou my 1ste keuse die Cooper red gewees het.

Thank you everyone! I can't wait to get back home, I'm very excited. The time away is going to feel extra long, but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.

@Transporter, I think I'll be keeping the original mags & tyres but if I change my mind I promise you will have first option.

    Cheers from chilly Scotland

I was wondering if Mazda will also one day bring out a BT that is a bid different than the normal one, like Ford have done with the Wildtrack. The Wildtrack is for sure a looker. It would also be nice if the Wildtrack was available in the 2.2 version like in some other countries.

The Mazda is very well spec'ed. All the SLE model Double cabs (even the 2x4 2.2) have dual zone automatic climate control. The only Ford that comes with that is the Wildtrak. Upgrading from a 2008 Toyota, any newer Toyota I would have taken would have had Climate control. So a XLT would not have been a upgrade for me in that respect. That was the main reason I started looking at the Wildtrak and then I saw all the other luxuries that come with, electric drivers seat, heated seats ect. and that's when I was sold.

Is anybody interested in a Wildtrak load liner? Lying in my garage, up for sale, make me a offer

First mod for the bakkie, rubberising, at least something is happening while I'm at sea... Ready for that SJS Canopy as soon as it goes home.

Any reason why you didn't go for the Metalian canopy?

Who did the rubberising? Didn't do mine but changed my mind. Also have the WildTrack but going to remove the liner. Also already have a metalian canopy fitted.

@Carel, my dog goes everywhere with me, so that was the deciding factor. I have a normal sliding window on the right hand side of the canopy which I can open when he is in the back, and a flip up window on the left for easy access. Frontrunner rails on top already for roofrack/rtt.

@rterblanche, bakkie is still at the dealership, only taking delivery a bit later as I'm offshore at the moment. Salesman had it done for me for free, so I'm not sure what it costs. I saw a bakkie in their showroom with the rubberising done and it looked like a very decent job, Safeguard / Tuffguard is the place's name, not sure but you can just phone up +27 215963200 and ask for Edrich and he will tell you where it was done. I'm very glad I had it done, looks good and protection is much better.
