Hi there
Join a local astronomy group and go to a Star Party. Then ask all your questions and look at their equipment and see if it can do what you require.
You really get some awesome second hand details. Just make sure that you know what to look for. Lenses must be scratch free, coating inside the tube must be intact, brackets and RA in good working order.
I just bought a Celestron 70eq ( German mount), 3 lenses and a stand second hand for R600.00. Is in perfect condition.
Do not buy new if you are not 100% sure of what you want to do with it .
Ps, Astrophotography is a completely different field. Not all scopes can take a camera.
Enjoy the clear nights!
