Default Shock Absorbers - Only at dealers?

Is it true that only MB dealers stock and sell shock absorbers (for an A-Class)?

SWAMBO was told the above by Supa-Quick?

What is the best home-test to check the condition of shock absorbers on these cars?

    Thanking you

It is possible. Not all the independent ZA suppliers would have every single shock made by man.

If MB used something weird, it could easily be a dealer-only supply issue.

    Especially if they are struts.

    Hi there guys

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. A bit more homework (for SWAMBO that is) to do then.

Have any of the Mercedes ML 270 owners changed their front shocks recently. I inquired at the agents and the cost is around R6900 for two fronts (eeeeeeeish), I am quite happy to use non genuine parts such as Gabriel or Monroe.

Bilstein or Monroe have a shock absorber for the W163. Should be 2k - 2k5 per side.

These guys might be able to help:

Got my Bilsteins and lower link arms for my C class from Goldwagen, try them, they have quite a selection of Merc parts at almost reasonable prices but much cheaper than dealers.

Who did you buy the Bilsteins from and how much did you pay? I am also considering getting them.

    Any feedback?
