Stefan, my gas bottle is in the nose cone whilst traveling. When setting up I then connect it to the back of the trailer for use.

I don't have the spare wheel carrier on the back which has an integrated gas bottle holder. I seem to recall Heinz saying this was no longer "legal" having the gas bottle mounted on the rear.

Thank you gentlemen. I'm also concerned about the potential leaking of gas into the kitchen cavities - I'll add the necessary modification to the (growing) list.

Apparently it's not legal, but not enforced either... Yeah, I know!

Do I drain the battery as far as I can and recharge fully and how often?

Or do I not do anything in between trips which can be 6 months apart?

The hcdp smart charger will run at about 13.86v as a float charge voltage. Leave it connected permanently, plug in and forget.

We had a great Easter weekend camping at Badensfontein (just outside Montagu) and I'm loving the trailer .

There are already a number of modifications that we would like to make, the biggest one being should we customise (e.g. extend the awning, enlarge the bed) the Tentco Snr TTT, or save up and get a different TTT (e.g. Ultimate Overland, Conqueror, Howling Moon). Any thoughts, comments and/or advice in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

The howling moon delux tent is good, with the bed extension is nice and big Im looking at getting the bed extension bit for my tent in the near future, and loads of side walls etc you can buy as needed.

Just a tip go directly to Heinz for the tent if you decide to go HM, pricing and service is better.

I would first do a few trips if I were you. Your mind changes after a few trips regarding what "needs" are and what "wants" are. Most importantly you have the trailer you wanted, and therefore a solid base to build on.

This is exactly the situation we have found ourselves in. I have a bunduawn on my Maxi. We are a family of 5, myself, Swambo, twin mini-Swambos and a micro-me. We have sidepanels to completely close in the bunduawn, but have used small ground tents for sleeping. It works, but, isn't yet what we are looking for. So, we have now decided to go with conventional RTTs on the trailer for sleeping. They are the quickest in terms of setup and you are away from the creepy crawlies. The Bunduawn still works perfectly, with its panels for longer stays and then our bedrooms are upstairs.

    Awesome, thanks

GeckoCampers, isn't the BunduAwn too low (i.e. to walk comfortably under it), or did you have it lifted?

    Hi Stefan,

I lifted the awning - I chose this as opposed to the TTTs with their plethora of awnings and extensions and the thought of it all being wet and needing to pack it away helped me decide.

Is the awning permanently lifted or do you lift it when setting up camp at your destination?
While I'll be using my OZtent in the meantime I'm still trying to decide on a tent for the trailer myself, but I need space where I can change clothes standing up, and I can't do that on top of the trailer...

Good question. I needed it in the exact correct position to fit all my panels, but didn't want it hanging out in the middle of nowhere, so, it folds into position - see post 2477 of this thread. I will be changing it thought, to be permanently at the correct height - may need to have it slide backwards/forwards a little for tight turns off-road through a dip.

Store both in the bottom drawer with tent pegs and wooden blocks etc. Furthest back I could get this heavy stuff.
