    Thanks Honey Badger,

It's a second hand one (2011). HM TTent, Nose Box, 12V only.
I almost placed an order for a Midi/Parthian but was unsure the size would work for a family of 4. And a new Maxi was just more than I wanted to pay.
Its in good condition, but with very few mods, which leaves me with more or less a blank canvas.

I'll probably be asking advice soon.

Hello all, does anyone have a photo of Metalian's stainless steel table? I am very keen on getting 2 for my Maxi. Thanks in advance.

    Hi
Looks like a great setup. Just got back from a couple of days in North Wales aswell.(Picture from a previous trip) What tent set up are you using as it looks like you've got the outside under cover area we crave, especially over the kitchen area, Wet uk holidays !! Have you had a bespoke panel fitted to use cupboards in bedroom area ?
    Thanks

Following as I'm looking for a new tent ready for next spring. Ive got a MyWay TR5 tent fitted at the moment which is a great tent but could do with extra room and covered awning area (Family of 4). Thinking Howling Moon XT Deluxe.(Love the look of the Australian made Off Trax tent and add on's but at around 5000 plus postage (R84,000) its out of my budget!!) Any other recommendations / photos of setups. Mainly used in the UK and Europe so plenty of wet weather !
    Thanks

Im swaying between the Tentco Senior Tent priced at about 15k, and the Howlingmoon XT Deluxe priced at 20k.
So looking at the numbers the choice should be obvious. However...
    1. apparently the Tentco has to be customized by Henk in order for the doors of the Metalian to open. +- 3k
    2. I am 1.95 m tall, so a bed extension is a necessity. +-2.5k
    3. I currently have a Howlingmoon roof top on my Fortuna, and during the floods in Kruger in January, it didn't leak a drop while fellow campers around me were floating away. The quality is exceptional, and highly robust.

The Howlingmoon XT comes standard with a bed extension, so no additional cost, and I am not sure if modification to the tent is necessary for the Metalian doors to open? Maybe Henk can answer that.

The last point is that apparently the Tentco base is made of wood which buckles etc. over time. That is what I've read on the forum, so purely here say on my part. My Howlingmoon roof top base is made from what looks like thick plastic. I assume the TT will be made from same material.

Or should I be looking at a different option all together?

Obviously the tent is an expensive part of the build, and I would rather not find myself changing to something else a year down the line, because I haven't done my homework.

Help and input much appreciated in advance 😉

I was out trying to find a few items for the trailer today and came across this very appropriate product, which IMHO should be in every trailer and off road rig out there.

The awning you talk about came with the tent when I originally ordered it from Heinz. Yes I did order all the canvas panels, pockets and wine bottle holders.. It's keeps really neat and tidy..

Hi guys, on the kitchen shelves side how do you secure your goods.
I have looked at the caddies that zip up (with the see through window)
But is this enough? lets say theres a few pots and they shake around behind the caddies while driving how do you secure this, and the smaller stuff?

    Hi ismail

I have the zip up caddies and the stuff doesn't really move around much, but that would be on tar or good gravel roads.

Also have Ultimate Overland's canvas caddies and nothing moves around. Did about 18km on gravel this past weekend and everything was still in its place.

Anything glass is in pull-out pantry drawer in foam insert. We stack and wedge pots/pans so that major movement is reduced, some items placed in locktite-type containers, heavier tins kept near back of the shelf with plastic-ware near the front of the caddies. We also take too much kitchenware junk so there is not much space left anyway for things to move to.

Swambo now wants to re-arrange kitchen com-flipping-pletely. She is into "workflow optimisation" so now I have to do mods again. Yay....

We pack our towels, about 8 or 10 in the kitchen area between the loose stuff when driving. It keeps everything from rattling and moving.

    Thanks, true happy wife=happy life,
When I placed the order for the maxi, the first thing my wife asked "did you include the stove and water system?".
Im looking at the caddies at the moment but going to wait till the trailer arrives before getting them. Nice thing about those caddies everything has its place and its visible just by opening the door etc.

    Default Metalian Maxi super thread

Somewhere on this thread there is a picture of my kitchen with foam for plates and glasses. The caddies are the way to go. And the pots and pans we simply bought velt dividers to limit damage between the pots.
I also built a carpet covered box/compartment (pub) in the kitchen to hold whisky and wine bottles.
Everything worked so well this last Namibian holiday (6,400 km) that my in laws have decided to change their echo trailer to be similar to ours with the shelves and caddies.
When I get back home next week I'll post some "update" pictures of kitchen and also the coffee/tea/flour/etc rack that I built.

The more stuff moves, the more it gets damaged/leaks. Lesson learnt this last holiday.

Most importantly. Have fun while doing all this. And congratulations on buying the best.
