Thanks Heinz and KurtG for the reply. I think I'll leave it then.

How would you fit a drop plate to a goose neck towbar?

As for the alko owners like Conqueror you have a different setup

The Alko uses a round shaft that is a tight fit in the head with a split tube to retain it, there is still 5c worth of advice in the photo

Whilst on this theme, I changed my standard Knott hitch this week to a NATO hitch and eyelet. Not expecting savage conditions but I felt the think pressed steel jobbie didn't look manly enough. It's a Knott genuine eyelet and the hitch came off a Challenger tank or something. Who knows. I think I'll have a hard time breaking it. Poor old Postie looked very relieved to be rid of it. I got a set of new brake shoes at the same time so he was puffing a bit carrying that lot.

I'm co-incidentally fitting 8 of these hitches to a batch I'm doing right now (for export). They do look like they can handle a load alright.

Like this. There is a pin underneath that you can pull to allow the head to rotate 360 degrees. Some trailers have a fixed ring and if you are off road the trailer cannot tilt in the opposite direction to the vehicle. Unlocking this means it can and won't tip the car should it flip. The head on the Knott coupling does swivel quite a bit so this part on the hitch is kept locked

Hi, can a hitch receiver and recovery points (left hand right) be fitted to a new maxi?
Can the trailer accommodate +46 offset wheels (I.e. gen 4 Pajero)

Has anybody seen these locally? I have only seen them in the Gall Boys videos and they sure seem like the best option for off road use.

martialllaw, I think Heinz will have to answer you.

I think it will depend on the axle width. I have steel 16 inch rims from a Gen 3 Pajero on my mini. (235x85x16 BFG tyres) With the aid of a spacer I can either use the trailer spare wheel on a back wheel of my Pajero or the Pajero spare wheel on the trailer. Because of the disc brake size I can only do this on the rear wheels. The Pajero tyre will also stick out past the trailer mudguard. I have 17 inch rims on my Pajero. Fortunately I have not had to resort to the spacer yet.
