I was wondering, Heinz, have you built something like a stand for the nose to take the weight off the jockey wheel - perhaps something to use as a stand in storage or even as the third support for levelling instead of the jockey wheel?

A 9kg gas cylinder works perfectly for that.

On our second day of a three week trip to Kruger staying at Skukuza, Letaba and Croc Bridge. Staying at camps with perennial rivers with the drought, with the park being 90% empty camping wise. Our stainless steel Maxi with the Conqueror Comfort tent is a dream, drawing a lot of attention from fellow campers. I've pointed them in your direction Heinz.
A problem we currently have at Skukuza is the noise from the staff quarters to the south of the camp site. There has a been a party going on since yesterday evening, and speaking to the camp manager a number of times has made no difference. Hoping tomorrow will be better.

The later model Maxi's, (I'd guess for at least the last two years), have the same stabilizer points in the front as we have at the rear, so you can get an additional two stabilisers and fit them to the front of the Maxi.

We also have the Katadyn Ceradyn filter which was used by aid workers in Japan after the 2011 tsunami to provide potable water to survivors. It filters at a rate of 4 litres an hour and is good for 140,000 litres. With this filter you can safely filter river water to provide potable water.

Thanks, Heinz - mine is a bit older and indeed without the stabilizer points.

Heinz Sir, can these front points be retrofitted? Or is it more like "n boer maak n plan?" Maybe a pic would help. Ta

This requires a square hole to be cut and an internal support welded into place at the point where it is now. I guess we could provide a bolt on tube with holes that does the same trick. This will then need to be bolted to the drawbar. I'll give this some thought tomorrow.

I fitted mounting brackets for the standard stabilizers to the front of my Maxi, will post a pic of the brackets tomorrow.

I am no farmer, but did the "boer maak 'n plan" thing: I fitted a stabilizer jack (see photo) to the A-frame, and also one on the rear tow bar (in retrospect...2 such stabilizers at the rear would be better if you want to use it as levelling struts as well)

Why not just put your hi-lift jack under the A frame, if you have one? One less thing to cart around.

Thanks for giving this some thought, Heinz - I trust that you will come up with a fitting solution, I am currently using a piece of a creosote pole cut to length, but there must be a better solution.

So, I may well be selling my Maxi soon - It's kinda large and I just don't get out enough with it.

Having had a chat to Heinz I'm considering something thats more weekender friendly...

anyone interested in a Metalian with 35s on it?

can be modified down to lower tyres or whatever is required,,,,

I do not believe in Shocks on a trailer, they cause more trouble than 2 stroke oil in diesel

but now that you mention it the stabilising jacks seem to be excessively worn, I shall supply new ones!!!

And whoever buys the trailer will think about it every night. Value just dropped by half.
