Thanks Heinz for assisting me this morning ( while you are supposed to be on holiday) with my Maxi.

BEST customer service - one of the reasons I like Metalian so much.

Thought I'd brighten up this thread a bit. A Maxi in production just before we closed. Sorry I don't have the finished pics - Looks super cool in Landrover G4 Yellow, and black trim.

That's cool. Now just need a blue one.

Quick question, what bearings are used in the spare wheel bracket. Mine are broken!

Dale, I'll need to get the kit number from Burquip for you, sorry I don't have this from memory - probably a number one or two kit. The bearing may have broken if the bottom bolt loosened and resulted in too much play. Do you have anything extra on the wheel like bike racks? This is an uncommon failure.

Nope. Just the standard wheel. Fitted a bike rack for first time middle this year but bearings were already broken. Noticed the breakage in July while prepping for mid year long trip. Must have broken on December long Trip?

Also check the locking handle. If you have play here, this will alos put more stress on the bearing. I note from your pic that the top bearing number is 302044? This should help identify the kit you need.

So its just kit one or Two? That's neat. Locking mech is now pretty loose. Figure that's from taking the load the last year.

What, where and how are you fitting water filtration these Days? I see that midi has a Setup? Do you have some Details?

The filtration you may be referring to is the one you've seen on the new Parthian thread. These are a special import from France - the client provided these and they are known as Katadyn filters (www.katadyn.com). I think they cost about R5000 for the set.

I'm not a water specialist and don't know why the client was specific about these particular filters - they're obviously very good, but standard RO filters should also suffice.

Bottom line is that if you specify something or let me know what it is you want to achieve, I will provide a solution.

    Good day

Is there anybody camping in Hartenbos currently with a Metalian trailer? My brother in law wants to buy a camping trailer and I suggested Metalian. I would like to show him what it looks like in.

Katadyn are a very well know filter / purification system supplier in europe.

We have always had good reviews, but have no personal experience.

So... Kit 1? Are these the same bearings as used in the Axle?

The Katadyn stuff is fantastic. Used there portable filtration on a trip a while back... Fantastic!

I was looking more along these Lines though. http://littleluxury.co.za/product/luxpure-filter/
should be a bit more affordable.

I have not checked which bearings are on my spare wheel swing arm, if it indeed is the same as for Kit 1, it is different from those used on the axle as I have a 1600 Kg AFC45A axle on my Maxi and I replaced my bearings in December with Kit 4.

I decided last week to put my Maxi "on bricks" to alleviate some pressure on the tyres and bearings while not in use. I bought two 2-ton stands at Adendorffs for R350, not bad for what it is. Now I need to plan another camping weekend away very soon, already having withdrawal symptoms

Burquip Kit 01 is for the rear swing arm
Burquip Kit 03 is for the 2500 kg axle
Burquip Kit 04 is for the 1600 and 1800 kg axles

I know this sounds like it should be the other way around (that the bigger bearings have the lower code number) but this is correct as printed.

The only thing I've found with the Katadyn filters is that they substantially reduce the flow over the ordinary filters - I guess they're just working harder.
