Hey hey, looking good. Heinz should give us brochures and business cards to hand out (and then of course a cut of his meager profits )

Tks Honey Badger. You say number 3 but your pic shows 3kg. Would that be the old number 3 or the new 3kg?

Wasn't my pic, belongs to KurtG. I just recall seeing the post earlier in the thread and replied to you.
Quick digs and found the following:
    Cadac 5kg cylinder - diameter of 250mm (perimeter 66cm)
    Cadac 3kg cylinder - diameter of 210mm (perimeter 79cm)
I have an older cylinder between the 3 and 5kg sizes and had to make a modification to hold it in place.
For safety, go to shop and measure yourself before buying.

Thumbs up First trippie with our "new" Maxi

The weekend after we collected Swambo's "new" white kitchen appliance we zipped to Klipdraai for a 2 nights to play. The important thing is to GO CAMPING neh?
Place was packed but we found a nice spot next to the river.

Glad we practiced putting up the Howling Moon 2010 tent and add-a-room at home first. We looked like pro's... OK, Swambo and the kids did.

Now to start all the fixes and mods. I believe my Metalian stickers and wheel arch reflector plates are at Ultimate Overland (Henk - will give you a call soon to visit).

Coleman cooler box due to budgetary constraints and because Jannie is too far away to rent a fridge/freezer (come to think of it, I could always keep one on the East Rand for him ). Amazingly ice bricks remained frozen for 2 days. Must be an extra cool trailer
Electric kettle was plan B. Glad we had our loadshedding battery box along for the frequent power outages.
Green plastic splash screen idea from this Forum. Thanks!

I am convinced the Metalian was easier to tow than a Conqueror Conquest (http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/...&postcount=620) ... BUT I may already be biased.

Default Fix 01- Missing slide components

OK, so after our camping trippie it's time to start fixing things.

We noticed that when pushing the fridge platform in, the sliders did not slide in all the way by the time the fridge was fully pushed in. We had to (sometimes) manually push the middle part of the slide in. (No pics for easy questions )

So I looked and looked and looked and eventually saw why. Missing the rubber stopper/pickup thingamajigs at the end.
Where would I get a bunch of these - I think I counted 4 missing (fridge and one rear drawer) but best I get 6.

    Thanks !

HB - is the Metalian new? If so then make contact with Henk Bannick who will assist ; I have no doubt. If you are convinced that is the cause and would like to affect your own fix, then try Furnlock here in Marlborough GP. They will be able to sort you out with parts I think.

those slides always shift along the rail as you travel and don't always open or close all the way. best thing to do is make sure the fridge is pulled all the way out when you arrive - it realigns everything.

the rubber bumpers - don't know where you'd get spares.

Heinz would probably be the best person to ask, but right now he's busy making parts for a Zombie apocalypse war trailer.

    and I'm not joking

When you do find them, try and glue (or something) them on. I found with mine that they fall off too easily.
I think Sky tried a special glue or something with mine.

Default Fix 02 - Pump leak and in-line Filter placement

Opened up pump enclosure, cleaned out area and traced the leak to the outlet which was much looser than the inlet. After some new Teflon tape, no more leak!

Believe it or not I found a printed Bible verse inside the enclosure (Psalm 107v1 since you asked) and a "CH Lighting" F8T5/D fluorescent light globe (28 cm x 1.5cm). Not even cracked, shows you how good the suspension on Maxi is.

Also tightened one of the small nuts holding pump in position that had come loose.

I could not see an in-line filter. Shurflo recommend a 50 mesh strainer (0.3 mm sieve) to prevent foreign debris from entering the pump - mentioned on forum in several places.

Question now is can I install one elsewhere and not before the pump in the enclosure. Was a pain to open up and had to remove some kitchen carpeting to move the cover. I have seen the pump installed elsewhere but that isn't going to happen soon. Was thinking of installing the filter on pipe coming up through floor of trailer between water tanks. Any reason not to do this?
    Thanks.

The strainer should be installed after the last possible source of contamination. Typical sources are corrosion and/or erosion of system materials and contaminants in the water itself. The polymer piping doesn't erode or corrode, so you can install the strainer after the tanks. The distance between the the pump and strainer has no effect on the pump's performance.

My 1 month old Maxi's pump sits in the space under the fridge drawer. It has a strainer just before the pump.

No problem to install between the tanks, much easier to service there
