Suikerbossie Guest Farm was amazing. Can definitely recommend this campsite.
The camp site is green grass all the way.
Not too big, and campsites separate from each other
    NO MUSIC allowed!
Waterfall campsite has it's own beautiful rockpool.
The ablutions are neat and very nice.
If you are coming from Cape Town rather take the Ceres route instead of the N7 in order to avoid the corrugate gravel road between Citrusdal and the campsite.

    The hosts are super friendly.

We will post some pictures shortly.

    Will definitely go back.

    Thanks!
I only stumbled upon this thread now and would really appreciate it if you could post an updated list seeing that it's many years later and I'm assuming you've found a few new gems since.

We were at Gecko Rock's De Wet's Rus campsite this past weekend and really enjoyed it. There are three wooden huts next to the campsite which share ablutions with the campsite (which doesn't have demarcated sites and no grass, but great shade. I wouldn't put four families in the campsite though. Two at most). The huts were all occupied and there was a couple in a tent but they were all on a shooting course (which seems to be very popular at Gecko Rock, but takes place far enough away from the camp that you don't hear them shooting at all) so we had the campsite to ourselves during the day.
The vistas are beautiful and there are 4x4 trails, a mountain bike trail and hikes. We have a 2 and 4 year old so we only went for a short walk and I took them in turn for a longer ride on my mountain bike. We also didn't do any of the 4x4 trails.
The veld is mainly fynbos and in good condition. The silence is deafening and there is decent birdlife at the campsite because there are lots of big karee trees with bird feeders in them. I can definitely recommend it.

Thanks for the list! Now winter must just pass quickly...

One I didn't see on your list which we visited in January and really enjoyed is Schoongezicht Kampterrein. It's also in the Koue Bokkeveld not too far from Suikerbossie (which looks great too). Google it.

I don't know if I want to spread this secret too widely, but here goes.

    http://www.eselfontein.co.za/eco-huts

It is basic but more than adequate. No electricity but a few solar lights at the lapa. A "donkie" for hot water in the showers (which are big and clean).
5 Ecohuts sleeping two each and lots of space to camp.
A stream and dam within a few minutes walking distance, very nice for a dip.
    Awesome mountain bike trails.
    Pet friendly (with prior arrangement).

You book the entire campsite so need to be a few people to make it economical but then have the entire place for yourself. And you need some clearance (but not 4x4) to get there.
